This Defender Could Be Bargain Buy For Newcastle In January

Newcastle United were linked with 25-year-old central defender Jakub Jugas of SK Slavia Prague as a target in January.

While Rafa may not have much money to spend in January of Mike Ashley is still the owner Jugas look s a decent buy at only £2M.

If Rafa is interested in a player, then you have to believe he knows how to get the best out of them.

And that’s been shown in last summer’s transfer window when the six players he brought in for around £12M net have turned out to be very decent players.

And we just signed one of them – the impressive 21-year-old Mikel Merino – for £6.5M in a permanent move from Borussia Dortmund late last week.

The 6ft 2 ins tall Jugas is a powerful player who is good in the tackle, and he seems to have what it takes to become a success in the Premier League.

He was signed from FC Fastav Zlín only last summer after an impressive season when he won the Czech FA Cup with Zlín; the transfer fee was reported to be €570K (£508K) plus future incentives.

He is just one player the club’s scouts are tracking for a possible acquisition in January, as Rafa tries to improve the team and finish as high up the Premier League table as possible next May.

Jugas has played 10 times for the Czech U21 side but has yet to make his full International debut although he has recently been called up a couple of times for the full squad.

If Rafa is interested in the 25-year-old, it means he thinks he can make the big step up to playing in the Premier League and £2M would seem a bargain buy.

Jakub can also play at right back, so he is also quite versatile.

And while we seem well stocked at center-back Rafa has said he wants to increase the competition at every single position in the Newcastle team.

With little money thought to be available in January, Rafa is looking for bargain deals and maybe loan deals too.

But if Newcastle are sold before the end of this year that policy could change quickly with significant funds likely to be made available by any new owners.

We should be experts of the Bargain basement now. So I’m sure Nufc are in tune with what’s available to fit that criteria

Somebody bang some pots & pans. Toontaff2 usually up by now. Sleeping in on match day? Surely not. And after 8am too.

‘Rennes are keen to sign Hatem Ben Arfa from Paris St-Germain. The 30-year-old former Newcastle midfielder has not made a single appearance for the French club this season.’ What a waste of exceptional talent.

    If you think about it
It must be quite difficult for Rafa
and his coaches to keep the team
focussed for a 4pm KO so far from home.
I wonder if they over-nighted down south
or would they get a private jet down today?

    anyone realised ?

Ancient, the guys who used to shout that doubters like me were all wrong about hba have been quiet for some time. One wanted rafa to get him. Rafa wud have him strung up for lack of work rate and tactical understanding. The man who once ran less than a goalkeeper. Hba my arse.

Ben Arfa reminds me of Cantona. Ben Arfa should be playing a free role. Can you imagine what would have became of Cantona, had he been asked to play the modern winger role—does not bare thinking about.

Munster, Cantona and Ben Arfa were/are both overtly attacking players. If they are not comparable, what exactly is?
