Rafa Wants Goalscoring Power In January – This Striker Now The Top Target

talkSPORT are reporting that Newcastle are keen to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in January, to add some goalscoring power to the team.

Both last season and this season we have created the chances, but without Dwight Gayle, in top form, we are now finding it difficult to score goals.

Bringing in a top striker in the January transfer window, therefore, seems to be Rafa Benitez’ top priority and that makes good sense.

Newcastle are defending well and maybe also bringing in a top left back would be the two players Rafa would like to acquire – at a minimum – in January.

If we have new owners by then, Rafa would be inclined to buy the players too – since presumably money would be made available at that time.

Cenk Tosun – top target in January

Newcastle scouts have watched the Turkey international all season, including at the game last Friday night between Besiktas and Genclerbirligi.

Tosun scored, but Besiktas lost 2-1.

Tottenham and Crystal Palace are also reported to be interested in Tosun, but if we get new owners by January Newcastle will be favorites to sign the 26-year-old.

Newcastle want to finish as high up the Premier League table as possible this season and reinforcements brought in during January can only help us do that.

Cenk has scored 6 goals with 2 assists in 10 appearances so far this season, and in his fourth season with the Turkish powerhouse, he’s played 128 games with 56 goals and 12 assists.

His contract runs out in just over 18 months time, and at around £17M he could become an excellent buy for Newcastle.
