Newcastle fans are taking to Twitter and expressing their thoughts as it seems the sale of Newcastle United could happen with Amanda Staveley – on behalf of Middle East investors – is reported about to launch a formal bid.
That will be a bid that shows she is serious and expected to be around £300M.
But she needs to look at the financial records first to ensure all is well financially with Newcastle.
Some fans are scared in case we turn into a Chelsea or Manchester City where it’s all about money, and that’s it – and the fans seem spoiled.
But it will be different with Newcastle – the club is one of the best supported in the world – and with Rafa at the helm, there will be genuine support and joy as the Newcastle team becomes better and better.
That’s a prediction.
And we’ll have the best flags in England too!
Rafa Benitez – Newcastle’s world-class manager

I’m excited but skeptical about the potential takeover of #NUFC. Are we about to see Man City money? I have no idea what to expect.

I realise that if #NUFC become a billionaire-owned ‘money club’ it will make me look a total hypocrite given my opinions on Chelsea/City…

Comment #4Carlisle United’s Shaun Miller is the first player to be charged by the Football Association since simulation laws were introduced in May. Miller, 30, is charged with “successful deception of a match official”, after an alleged “clear act of simulation” against Wycombe on Tuesday.
And Shane Long ? He acted very well too.

Comment #6The NUFC possible sale seems to be gathering a bit of momentum. Just been a bit on Sky News about Staveley signing a non disclosure agreement. So something is obviously happening.
Saudis – cannot see it myself (might be wrong though) – Saudia Arabia have just last week granted women the right to drive cars from next year. Cannot really see them having a woman heading up their interest.

Jib – you are at it again – I hope you will show any potential Middle Eastern owners a bit of respect. talk of wearing tea towels is a derogatory caricature of Arabs/Muslims. Same as raghead.
You need an equality course.
As for the purpose of your post some folk may not be comfortable with being deceptive/fraudulent in trying to establish another persons identity in order to scrounge.
I suppose some folk would take it in their stride.

To be fair, it’s not really any diffetent to somebody getting a red card retracted. Yoh could have played and lost due to being down to 10 men, and then the player gets reprieved later. You still don’t get the points, and that situation has been around for years. They could start bringing in points deductions for clubs who are repeat offenders or something.

Comment #27Really excited about the alleged takeover. I will return to the ground again after 3 years of exile making a stand against our “owner.” Thats if I can get a ticket!!!
A word of caution. Is it just coincidence that Ashley wants to sell when the fraud investigation is in full swing and could it scupper any deal??????
Any potential new owner wants to make sure that Mash Holdings is held responsible.
They also want to make sure that the land behind the Gallowgate comes with the stadium so that the ground can be extended to 65K. Or has Ashley already sold it. He really has the interest of his pocket at heart. We will need the extra capacity to turn us into a world class club.
Amanda Staveley is the best candidate by far of the suitors rumoured to be interested. She has by far the most money. The wrestling guy only has about the same as Ashley. In any event the Americans are only interested in taking money out.
Staveley has played a blinder so far and is far smarter than Ashley. Turning up at the ground was a great move. If forced Ashley to go public.
Reliable sources (that little gem) claims that she will spend 300 million on players. Ashley is totally screwed and virtually forced to sell.
Can you imagine Ashley coming back and saying there is no sale because we could not agree a price?
There would be uproar. Brilliant move by the lady. Ashley would basically be saying “I am too greedy.” And you can have more of the same 10 million windows as opposed to 300 million. He would get lynched.

Comment #30@Markaccus: In theory I’d be well behind points deductions for repeat offenders, or even altering points after the fact.
Eg: score is 1-1, Lansbury dives in the penalty area, scores from the spot and makes it 2-1. Maybe a player is even sent off for the initial challenge. After the game, the red card is rescinded, the goal is reacinded, Lansbury is retrospectively punished, and the score is “rewritten” to 1-1, the offending team get 2 points docked, and we gain a point.*
As I said, in theory I’d be happy to support the FA making that part of the laws of the game. Unfortunately, I don’t trust the FA to enforce it fairly, so it would end up being another way they could abuse it out-of-flavour teams.
* All names and events depicted in this example are fictional. Any resemblance to factual events are a force of consequence, and coincidence.

Comment #35oldgit – aye another abuser – cannot make your point without the gutter abuse.
It is hypocrites like you – who abuse others and tolerate other such abuse from other posters only when it is directed at certain parties. People can get their point of view across without being potty mouthed.
Folk like you are complicit in allowing, at times, the blog to degenerate towards the gutter.
Folk like you go against Ed’s policy “refrain from obscene language and any comments on religion, ethnic groups or politics”…………….but you must be another exception – all of a certain type.
Not my policy – Ed’s policy.

His comments were spot on and similar to many views shared on here over the past few days.
Basically, if you can’t put in 500 million and then some, don’t bother.
300 for MA. 200 for improvements to the squad.
Increase the ground capacity to 60 thousand.
…. and do it all when the money you have to spend is probably going to go up and up.

Great support.
Great stadium.
Great manager.
Adequate training facilities.
Great set up for someone like the UAE and their associated brands to be involved with.
Massive support is key. TV drives most things, but big games create a big event and a bigger spectacle, when played in front of 60-70 thousand.
Appreciate UAE own city, but there are others out there.
