Rafa Benitez has just announced his team for the important home game against Crystal Palace this afternoon.
We haven’t won any of our last three games, and it would be an excellent time to get our 4th win in the league this season.
Here is the Newcastle side as just announced on the Newcastle United Twitter account.

Roy Hodgson – Crystal Palace manager
So that’s another unchanged team from the one that did so well at Southampton last week, and both Florian Lejeune and Javier Manquillo keep their places in the back four.
Since we have so few games at the moment Rafa is keeping a stable side, and the lads played well last week, but we must concentrate a little better in defense.
Newcastle fans seem confident we can win the game this afternoon.
A win would be terrific!

Comment #5I fancy Atsu to do some damage today. Even when he is having an off game, he always looks threatening. If Palace push their wingers up too far, Atsu could exploit them.

Comment #6Ancient…I imagine it wont happen often. Good team. Sort of surprised that Merino isn’t starting again, but on the upside (for many on here at least), Mitro has made the bench. If he gets his change as a sub, lets hope he gives Rafa something to think about.

Comment #7Zaha up against Manquillo then. If Manquillo wins that battle, the LB position is his to keep.

And to continue the Spam theme I prefer to use 2 bits of spam with a slice of spam in the middle rather than bread.

Comment #9Yep, I’d say we will see Mitrovic at some point, unless a few injuries are picked up in other positions. I am just going to give Richie my MOTM award now—seems like a foregone conclusion.

Comment #11Think I’ve got 11/11 although not sure if I picked Clarke at LB.
3 ex Toon players in their lineup. (if we include VanAnholt)

Comment #12would have liked to see moreno today for hayden but with palaces wingers i can see why he’s stuck with hayden, Perez willl be the key today, if he can pressure that palace defence enough and get atsu and richie free down those wing we will score a couple i think, can’t see a clean sheet though 2 – 1

Comment #39Palace played without a striker last week and beat Chelsea by being the team in control. It gives them more people in midfield and confuses thumb twiddling defenders. Cudos to Woy for trying something unusual.

Comment #40Evidently Rafa thinks last week’s mistakes didn’t detract from what was basically a decent shape. I think we will get 3-1 out of this, Joselu to get one, then Ritchie, then Townsend will keep the tradition of old boys knocking one in against us as we step off the gas, and then one from sub Mitro to flatten them.
Or something else could happen.
