Pundit Predicts Surprise Result For Burnley vs Newcastle – Rafa Manager Of The Season?

Paul Merson has never predicted a win this season for Newcastle United and yet of the 9 Premier League games played we have won 4 of them and are 7th top of the league on 14 points.

So we should probably be a little bit wary about the game at Turf Moor on Monday night with Paul predicting a win for the Magpies – and away from home too.

Last week Paul predicted a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace, and he was fairly accurate for that game – to give him credit –  but we won 1-0 with a late goal from Mikel Merino.

Paul Merson – takes Newcastle for a win – what!

This is what has said on the Sky Sports website about Newcastle and Rafa Benitez:

“They are punching well above their weight.”

“If they finish sixth Rafa Benitez will be manager of the season.”

“Burnley’s home form has been a little shaky and Newcastle are on a roll.”

“The name of the game remains safety and hopefully, for Newcastle fans, their club will be in a position in January to have a real go in the FA Cup.”

“That would be brilliant.”

Newcastle are currently well placed in 7th place in the Premier League table, and if we finish one place higher than that in May, then Rafa would be Manager of the Season – according to Merson.

That would be great – and well deserved too.

Paul seems to be responding this week to some well-deserved criticism for seemingly always going against Newcastle in his predictions this season.

But we need to win this game on Monday night now – and make Paul look good!
