Alan Shearer’s Reaction To Poor Game And Newcastle Defeat

Alan Shearer took to his Twitter account after another poor game involving Newcastle but this time it was Burnley who scored the only goal to get all 3 points and move above Newcastle in the league table.

Both sides were fairly poor and there was nothing between the sides – much like against Crystal Palace but the bubble burst tonight and we looked a rather ordinary side.

Let’s hope we are better for the home game against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Performance not to indifferent to the Palace game. Couldn’t hold out but solid for the most part. Time to give Joselu a break.

    re-post

    lliot or Shelvey as MOTM.

Joselu really needs to sit one out. I’d like Mitrovic or Gayle a chance whoever Rafa sees as the better man for the job.

These very winnable matches against midtable sides will make the difference between comfortable mid-table or relegation battle… Hope we win the next one!!!

Who is this Mitrovic guy everyone seems to think is our saviour? He sounds brilliant! Is he related to the Mitrovic who spent the past two seasons ambling around missing sitter after sitter by any chance?

It is not the losing which is important. But how we lose. We were crap against a rubbish team. No threat and no pride.

We lost 1-0 in a game we should of picked up at least a point.

I think Rafa will play Mitro in the next game. I think he has shown him that he will not tolerate any of his misdemeanors and this is last chance.

Manquillo was in my opinion mom but I ain’t going to lose faith with a narrow defeat.

We will be fine and hopefully January will bring a new owner and more accomplished players.

I agree Joselu was poor, but to be fair he had no service.
    Diame is awful.
What happened to our ball playing CB Lejuene?
If Lejuene has been bought for his distribution from the back, why does Benitez let Elliot take the free kicks in our half?
    Already struggling to score goals.
Shelvey for me was our most influential player.

I expect us to be dragged into a relegation battle by Christmas if that is an example of how we are going to play……..

    No attack
    No creativity
    Too defensive
    Weird selections
    Strange sub timings

We need to change things upfront, we’re a bit stale. I’m not saying Mitro is world class, but he’s not Joselu and he seems to have a better record at scoring and creating chances. So for now, he should get the nod.

Diame, Yedlin and Perez all conceded possession cheaply prior to their goal.

Yedlin for me was the worst player on the park tonight. Everything he did was of poor quality. Crossing woeful, passing haphazard or momentum busting, tackling hesitant, dribbling off colour, positioning and understanding with teammates faulty often running ahead of passes or too keen to break so out of position when the ball was turned over.. He definitely lacks composure once things start to get a bit frenetic.

Let’s hope Merino is back fro Bournemouth. Changes needed.

deeply dissapointed by rafa !!! playing ayoze after his showing in the last game, for me his gone backwards since we brought him its absolutely criminal to have him on the bench let alone starting him. joselus hold up play is joke ! i wonder why he keep persistent on those front two ?? is it because they from spain cant think of something else…. in the end we lost 3 points who was there for the taking.

Mitro and perez used to have a bit of a thing going do yous remember that? So why the fusk is joselu getting chance after chance after chance when he is being a lazy barsteward unless it means running to the ball away from goal
As soon as he lays it of he stops!

Diame shouldn’t be allowed in an nufc shirt unless every other player at the club is injured…. even then id give the tea lady a game first.
He has a clockwork brain in a digital league.
Perez is like watching a 12 year old playing mens football…embarrassing how weak he is.
Joselu is just blah……nowt nor something.

I hope Merino back on Saturday and Hayden and Gayle get a chance

To sum it up, we tried hard, but with No strike force, little creativity and that lack of quality off cirtain players it was always going to be tuff.

Well well well Huddersfield, Brighton and Burnley games we could of won maybe got something out of – go 1-0 down and aint got a clue how to change it.

My biggest gripe is with RAFA he goes to these places for a draw or nick a win – but once we go behind doesn’t seem to want to change the tactics set up

    As Expatmag puts it
    No attack
    No creativity
    Too defensive
    Weird selections
    Strange sub timings

Burnley were there for the taking – when we ran at them the panicked and pulled us back should of done more of it.

Back to the slow sideways backward football and hoof it long to Joselu who nine out of ten was beaten all to easily in the air.

And when we get forward and put the crosses in where the F**k was Joselu 20 yards behind the ball – only person up was Atsu who I felt sorry for trying to outjump players who were two foot taller.

At the moment we are to reliant on Shelvey and the game slows down as players look for him. Ritchie struggling at the minute too!

I can’t believe I recorded and muted my phone to sit through that shite. At half time I had to check the opposition again as I thought that’s the way someone would set up against a big side. Burnley net spend of 35m in 5 seasons and we showed them far to much respect. Set up defensively and hooe we pinch a point which has now failed against Huddersfield, Burnley and Brighton. Gifting these teams points against us could end up costing us come end of the season

Well, you’d hope Mitro is given a run now, and that Diame is firmly 4th choice after that, and that Murphy is brought along now and played in preference to Atsu so we can judge his worth, and that we can do some business in January to allow us to better shuffle the deck up top. We are a modest group with a top manager, who requires and deserves more quality to work with.

Please tell me some of you are joking? Do you all feel privileged to the point where we have to win every game otherwise it’s a national outcry? EVERYONE knew how this game was going to pan out, we are very similar teams. There was 1 goal in it. We are lucky to be in the top half with this current team in the first place. Get a grip.

Still annoyed by that team tho surely gayle isnt even fit and he gets on the bench instead of mitro

I think Rafa plays the percentages, backs his approach and insists that the players keep putting in and playing to instruction till the final whistle. We’ll pick up points this way, and we’ll pick up more as the squad improves.

I know fans love Shelvey put the last tho g I want to see is Shelvey picking up the ball in line with cbs, it limits options and 3 or 4 out of 20 Hollywood’s come off. I just don’t get why he comes so deep to pick up the ball.

Joselu worked hard but doesn’t have any quality at all, yes Mitro has missed chances but as it stands Mitro has scored the same amount of goals in 100mins and joselu got a tap in and Matip beautifully hit one off his shin to go in. Perez loses the ball for the goal, Diame starts!! I’m just perplexed by what I’ve just witnessed. Joselu has to get dropped and I doubt Mitro has match fitness for 1 game to be enough!! Gayle offers nothing and Murphy first touch said it all for me. Shocking

Rumour in th epub tonight Merino could be out for up to a month – hell we missed him tonight.

Biggest laugh was Shelvey going for the return pass down the wing – looked like he was running in treacle. Mind you that was about the only time someone ran.

Stinker tonight from the team and Rafa has got to take some of the blame for the selection and style of play!

Charlie agree with most of that apart from slowing down trying to find shelvey he is constantly in space and is always looking for the ball the amount of times he got into that space only to not get the ball was rediculous
Seriously watch him he is alwaus running into pockets of space but aint quivk enough in getting it to him you can see him getting frustrated with it all the time

It’s not really that we played poorly…it’s simply that we lack the type of (expensive) talent that can win matches like this. We don’t have any players who can make chances out of nothing. The only way we score is either when the opponent makes a mistake, we get a rare moment of individual skill, or we get a bit of luck. But we’re not a equipped to break down a side that is well-organized defensively like Burnley, given that we have no dribbling wizards and always make the predictable pass.

Very much hoping Merino is back on the weekend as he was sorely missed. Need a change up front, preferably Mitro. Rafa has to put Ayoze on the bench as he continues to get pushed off the ball and provides very little up front. Did think Atsu gave a good effort. Would happily have taken 10th at the beginning of the season. On to the next one ????????
