Newcastle Reported After The Best Young Player In Paraguay

There’s news today in Italian outlet Calciomercato that Newcastle are interested in signing 23-year-old Paraguayan International Miguel Almiron.

Miguel is said to be the best young player with the best future in Paraguay and has so far played 10 times for his country.

He signed a year ago for MLS side Atlanta United and has been in good form in the American league

But Arsenal are also keen to sign the midfielder who can play in the number 10 position – a position that Rafa wants to strengthen in January.

The youngster will not be a cheap buy for Newcastle with the fee said to be around £15M.

He was outstanding for Paraguay in the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup when Paraguay finished second in qualifying to Columbia.

Miguel Almiron – playing for Atlanta

He made his full international debut for Paraguay back in September 2015 and has represented the full national side in both the Copa America Centenario and the 2018 World Cup qualifying games.

One of the positions Rafa is trying to strengthen is the number 10 position so we can be a bigger threat up front.

That has been a weakness in the side for at least a couple of years.

The 23-year-old has played 32 times for Atlanta with 9 goals and 8 assists.

The sixties relegationwas a more complex affair than just Len’s injury. The season before had been brilliant with White and Eastham in harness. Then Arsenal turned Eastham’s head and the saga began.
The next season, without Eastham, we actually scored more goals (100+ overall) but with no ball holder in the side got cut to ribbons by the opposition.
I well remember the west Ham game, 2-5 down with 10m to go so I went home. Final score 5-5 and we hit a post. Never left another game.

Anyway, Len’s broken leg effectively finished his career. Necessary never the same player after his return and was soon sold to Huddersfield.

Always was my favourite player and his lack of international honours, largely down to the Clough factor, was N absolute dsgrace
