It seems that Newcastle are very keen to sign 26-year-old Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in the summer after the scouts have watched him continually this season.
But after watching the Besiktas striker they have also become impressed with his team-mate, former German U21 player Tolgay Arslan.
Arslan joined Besiktas back in January 2015 from Hamburg, where he had been since 2009.
He signed a four and a half year contract in Turkey.
Newcastle scouts will continue to watch the 27-year-old German midfielder and if he continues to impress Rafa Benitez could lodge a bid for the German midfielder in the January transfer window.
The German-born midfielder started his career at Borussia Dortmund and is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the midfield and he could be a useful addition to the Newcastle squad.
While he was born and raised in Germany in Paderborn, he has Turkish parents and played for the Turkey Youth sides at U19 and U21 level before then playing for the German U20 and U21 sides.
Not sure how much Arslan would cost but he’s certainly been impressing the Newcastle scouts.
Since he joined Besiktas in 2015 he’s made 84 appearances with 2 goals and 9 assists.
He can play either in the holding role in central midfield or as an attacking midfielder.
