Rafa Benitez has just announced the Newcastle starting line-up for the game against Bournemouth this afternoon.
And we see Dwight Gayle get a start in the number 10 position in place of Ayoze Perez – so hopefully that will give us more goalscoring power up front.
Dwight can score at any time, and this is a big chance for the former Crystal Palace striker.

That’s two changes from the side that lost last Monday night at Burnley with Isaac Hayden coming back in for Mo Diame in central midfield.
Eddie Howe – Bournemouth manager
There is some confidence among the Newcastle supporters that we can win this game – with almost three in four fans expecting all 3 points.

Comment #82After a bright 15mins spell, we reverted back to our usual hopeless attacking and sloppy play. I’m used to it now.

Comment #83Bournemouth look a really poor side to me, devoid of confidence which shows in the amount of times they have been caught in possession.
I think we need to step up a gear or 2 to take advantage as sooner or later they will create a chance that we might regret.

Comment #84Hopefully ref sees his error at HT and rectifies it if given the chance with a soft pen. Don’t see why the rules don’t have room for wrongly disallowed goals before HT to be credited at HT.

Comment #85Shelvey actually slows our attacks down at times hes always looking for the right wing pass rather than maybe running with the ball or playing a simple pass
Good player but he could be doing much better
Manquillo is trying but just doesn’t look an attacking fullback hes decent at defending but thats it

Comment #86Maybe a good idea to replace Joselu with Mitro. We’re playing well. Just lacking. Has to be a goal in us today.

Comment #90We should persist with gayle in no. 10 for another 3 games and see what happens. It’s good to let perez be on the bench to do some reflection.

shhhhh
its not a championship team, i look at lots of teams in the prem right now, and we have a team that is a match for for any team outside the traditional top 8, what your doing is repeating regurgitated dross that comes from over paid “expert pundits”.
we need a LB a good keeper and we would be a nailed on top 10 team.
give man C to Pardew, and he would have those same players playing championship football, it still wouldnt make them championship players.
IMO most players are much about the same, but then you have outstanding players who really are footballers, Messi, Suarez , Ronaldo type most leagues only have a few of these players never mind teams.
its all about managers, luckily we have a great manager right now

Comment #92Good half Gayle was on side but no luck with the offside call. Elliot saved us from being down a goal and Ritchie drove the play.
Joselu should get the early hook for Mitro and Rafa needs to have a word with Shelvey who is off form. Manquillo atrocious and Lejeune looked like he was only back on a few of Bournemouth’s chances.
Despite all that we are dominating and Just need to be clinical finishing our cjamces to pick up all 3 points against this week side.

Agreed.
Lots of teams could get relegated. Probably a dozen or so depending on injuries or form or crucially in our case who the manager is. But we are in the mix to be in the bottom half. Call it what you like. Bad prem team or good Champ team. Two leagues in the Prem. And the majority of them are thinking mostly about avoiding relegation. It is not a competitive league anymore. Cash is king and we need Stavely. So stay up Mags!!!

tbh there’s so little star quality in that team it’s amazing what rafa has achieved.
people like joselu, manquillo and others have all come in on tight budget and it sadly shows.
rafa sadly had to make and mend after mclaren.

Comment #99Mitro has to come on to give us some presence. Bundle the defender and the bal into the goal. Old school type of striker who is of no use to the very top teams but can do a job for us until we sign David Silva.!!! Oh for some slick football.

Shelvey is so overrated.
He has the best long pass in the league. But thats it.
He is lazy, cannot run and cannot tackle. He could pass the socks off Silva, but one is a top top player and the other is very average.

Comment #120Yeah I agree although unlucky with the offside goal. Our first half scoring record is crazy though. We have barely scored in the first half all season
