Is This Newcastle’s Best Team For Bournemouth?

With our defeat on Monday night and the slack defending for the Burnley goal, Rafa Benitez may make some changes in the back four.

And with our very weak showing up front for the second game in a row, Rafa could make changes up front too.

But we doubt there will be too many changes made to the Newcastle side for the game this afternoon.

Mikel Merino is injured and not available.

Maybe a change Rafa could make is to replace the out of form Ayoze Perez but who to replace him with?

Maybe Mo Diame who played on Monday night but he didn’t particularly impress at Turf Moor.

Isaac Hayden – likely to start this afternoon

And Rafa could bring back Ciaran Clark in place of either Jamaal Lascelles or Florian Lejeune at the back.

But we suspect the only change Rafa will make is to bring back a fit Isaac Hayden to partner Jonjo Shelvey in central midfield.

So here’s the team Rafa could start this afternoon.

Elliot
Yedlin Lascelles (c) Lejeune (Clark) Manquillo
Shelvey Hayden
Ritchie Perez (Diame) Atsu
Joselu

Joselu could also be replaced and if it’s like for like then Aleksandar Mitrovic who could get a start this afternoon.

Dwight Gayle is also fit.

What would your team be for this afternoon?

Adblock is a good call, or if that isn’t available, Ublock Origin—available for Chrome & Firefox.

Hard to believe some people are talking about replacing Ritchie in the side: blasphemy.

2 – 1 to the Toon. Purely on the basis their attack is nearly as bad as ours.

martoon, I am unsure on that one. I use Chrome browser on my Android device without an adblock and do not run into problems.

Ritchie is invaluable to the side as much for his attitude as his energy. Him and Lascelles are the two players who would give you a bollocking if you werent pulling your weight. It’s a massive part of what we were missing in the McCardew years
