Christian Atsu not fully fit following our game against Bournemouth on Saturday when he was taken off late in the game.
So it was a surprise when he traveled to join up with the Ghana squad for the World Cup qualifying game against Egypt this weekend.
Ghana are already out of the World Cup and cannot now qualify.
Christian Atsu – injured in training
And it’s therefore annoying he has picked up an injury today in training with the Ghana squad.
It’ a thigh strain – said to be not serious – but we hope he now returns to Newcastle for treatment so he can play at Old Trafford a week on Saturday.

Comment #2The weakness of our squad really starts to show when we pick up a few injuries. I just really hope the new owners are big spenders to get some quality throughout the whole squad

Comment #3I rewad elsewhere that Atsu was not training fully
with the Ghanain squad, just jogging.
I’m hoping that’s due to his existing injury that
led to him being subbed, rather than a new injury
picked up on his travels.
