Former Player Backs This Striker At Newcastle – Slams Mitrovic

Former striker Malcolm Macdonald has recently slammed Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic who has been playing well and scoring goals for Serbia.

And now Mick Quinn has done basically the same.

Macdonald thinks Mitro should have improved a lot more than he has done in over two years on Tyneside and the manager Rafa Benitez is hardly using him in the team this season even though we have only 10 goals in 11 games.

Mitrovic has only 3 appearances since the summer but has still scored 2 goals.

Former striker Mick Quinn has also written about Newcastle’s two strikers, Gayle and Mitrovic, in the Chronicle today.

Dwight Gayle – coming into form

Quinn has good words to say about Dwight Gayle but he also doesn’t seem to fancy the 23-year-old Serbian International striker.

Here’s some of what Quinn said:

“It is time for Gayle to get a bit of a run in the Newcastle XI in my opinion, starting against Man United,”

“Gayle didn’t start the season in any sort of form whatsoever, but his hunger has returned and I think he’s starting to look sharper.”

“His full match fitness will only return once he is playing week-in, week-out though – and I still believe he is the best finisher in that Newcastle squad.”

“As for Mitrovic, well I’d have him on the bench, but he still has to do a heck of a lot more to prove to me that he deserves a place in the team.”

Newcastle bought Dwight Gayle for around £10M from Crystal Palace last year and he immediately produced the goods in the Championship.

Dwight scored 23 goals in only 34 appearances for us in our promotion season.

Now the huge challenge Dwight has is to produce that type of goalscoring form in the Premier League – which he has never managed before.

But maybe with Rafa’s guidance, he can start to score those goals for us in England’s top division.

From what we can tell Aleksandar Mitrovic now has no future under Rafa Benitez on Tyneside.

These former strikers are just trying to drum up traffic or don’t know what they’re talking about.

Or they might actually have a vast amount of knowledge and experience and know that he has done nothing to deserve a chance at all.

For everyone who wondered wtf David Beckham called his bairn Harper a baby has just been shouted out in the doctors waiting room called Harper. I wonder how many unfortunate souls have been burdened with the name Romeo because of him.
