Report – Newcastle Enter Negotiations To Buy Cenk Tosun – Face Competition

There’s a report from Turkey that the Vice President of Besiktas has flown to England to hold talks over the potential sale of their striker Cenk Tosun.

The news is from Turkish football news outlet Fanatik and apparently, Ahmet Nur Cebi wants to judge just how serious the interest is for their striker.

You can bet that one of the clubs he will meet with are Newcastle and maybe the Magpies are the club that have arranged the meeting?

On the other hand it could be that it is Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy who has shown the initiative and arranged the meeting with Ahmet Nur Cebi.

Anyway, the Besiktas Vice President will be meeting with one or more Premier League clubs and the transfer fee has already gone up because of interest from clubs like Newcastle and Spurs.

Cenk Tosun – Besiktas and Newcastle in talks?

The latest is that Besiktas now want around £18M for their striker.

Newcastle desperately need to sign at least one and maybe two good strikers in January so we have players capable of converting the chances we regularly create.

Our inability to do that has cost us points in our last two games – 1-0 defeats at both Burnley and at home to Bournemouth.

This report is interesting because earlier this week Rafa held a meeting with Newcastle’s Head of Recruitment, Steve Nickson, about players who we want to sign in the January transfer window.

Besiktas seem to have been swayed by the real interest shown in their striker and maybe now Newcastle can agree on a deal for the Turkish International striker that can be completed in early January?

We hope that will be possible so we can get Tosun in early in January.

Comments welcome.

I still don’t get why, what or who Jesper was getting at concerning the sale of Murphy. In hindsight it may well have been better to keep him, what more can be said than that on the matter.

    Shire
if you posted NUFC’s main shirt colours are black and
white – Jesper would argue with it.

Presumably a lot of the squad will be travelling back today so they won’t all be together until tomorrow! Mitro will be knackered from travelling from Asia, Mbemba will have travelled a fair distance as well and Clarke’s frame of mind might not be too great after last night. With the injuries to Lascelles & Atsu we’re going to struggle to put out a competitive team on Saturday!

I personally found calling him “shit” the bit that spun me out, Shire.

Jail..If you read back, you will probably read that Lesh mentioned Ashley in a post about the sale of Murphy / purhase of Joselu. Could that be who or what Jesper was getting at?

For what it’s worth, I don’t think losing £2m on Murphy was a big deal or even worth talking about, but that’s me.

If we do sign Tosun, will he attract ‘The Caber’ as his nickname?

Since 2014 NUFC have accumulated the most days lost due to player injuries; they have missed 5,172 .

    Jesper,
What I don’t get is who you are trying to criticise. You say you had the hindsight that would have kept him. Would you have kept him thinking that we were going to bring in a couple of better strikers. A guy who has plied his trade in the Championship for a reason.

I hate these early transfer talks, let’s see if I can remember how this goes.
Headlines: Newcastle in transfer talks with striker, big meeting and fee agreed by both clubs. Transfer hits a little bit of a snag. The player sign’s for someone else that wasn’t even on the radar. Newcastle actually was not ever talking to this player is reported by the club, fans are pi55ed of again. Yeah, I think that covers that tosh.
