There’s a report from Turkey that the Vice President of Besiktas has flown to England to hold talks over the potential sale of their striker Cenk Tosun.
The news is from Turkish football news outlet Fanatik and apparently, Ahmet Nur Cebi wants to judge just how serious the interest is for their striker.
You can bet that one of the clubs he will meet with are Newcastle and maybe the Magpies are the club that have arranged the meeting?
On the other hand it could be that it is Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy who has shown the initiative and arranged the meeting with Ahmet Nur Cebi.
Anyway, the Besiktas Vice President will be meeting with one or more Premier League clubs and the transfer fee has already gone up because of interest from clubs like Newcastle and Spurs.
Cenk Tosun – Besiktas and Newcastle in talks?
The latest is that Besiktas now want around £18M for their striker.
Newcastle desperately need to sign at least one and maybe two good strikers in January so we have players capable of converting the chances we regularly create.
Our inability to do that has cost us points in our last two games – 1-0 defeats at both Burnley and at home to Bournemouth.
This report is interesting because earlier this week Rafa held a meeting with Newcastle’s Head of Recruitment, Steve Nickson, about players who we want to sign in the January transfer window.
Besiktas seem to have been swayed by the real interest shown in their striker and maybe now Newcastle can agree on a deal for the Turkish International striker that can be completed in early January?
We hope that will be possible so we can get Tosun in early in January.
