Mourinho And Benitez Have Had Their Spats In The Past – It’s Over

We had wondered what Jose Mourinho would say about Rafa Benitez in his press conference for the game on Saturday because they have had spats in the past.

One of them was when Jose criticized Rafa’s wife for letting her husband put on weight.

But today in his press conference Jose says he has nothing but respect for the Newcastle manager.

And we must say it seems the vast majority of managers in the game look on Rafa as a good guy and a real gentleman.

And obviously, he knows the game of football inside out and as well as anybody in the game.

Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho – on sidelines

This is what Mourinho has said today about their rivalry:

“I don’t think the rivalry was with Rafael, it was more between our clubs than between us.”

“We are managers from the same generation.” “We came to England in the same season – 2004-2005.”

“We were both successful in European competitions – not many have won Champions League and Europa League, and we are some of the few managers who did it.”

“Of course, between Liverpool and Chelsea, we had matches and rivalry, and it happens.”

“But I have huge respect for him, for his talent, for his career, and I want to believe he feels the same.”

Those are good words from Mourinho, and it should be some tactical battle on Saturday at Old Trafford.

We are also hoping there will be a rivalry build up between Newcastle and Manchester United in the future.

Hopefully, Rafa can turn Newcastle into his next Liverpool.

Here’s hoping.

    If Wor Merino plays,
    there is slim chance.
    Otherwise zilch.

It’ll be interesting to see what Mourinho will say about Rafa and his tactics if we manage to get a draw at OT, especially if it is a 0-0 draw.

    Jib,

    Interesting.

Do you think the photographer, once tipped off, then scanned the 52000 crowd looking for a blond women or (as I suspect) was told precisely where she would be located and what she looked like ?

The photograph that Ed uses looks like she is desperately trying to keep her composure and dignity as the bloke behind her has just put his hand up her skirt.

    There was manipulation going on
Unfortunately for Georgie boy Twitter doesn’t
lie – the timestamp shows that Caulkin posted she would be at
the game before breakfast on that Sunday
