Paul Merson Predicts Man United vs Newcastle – An Omen For The Magpies?

There’s no doubt that this is a crucial game for Manchester United after they lost last time out at Chelsea by a score of 1-0.

That man United lost another 3 points on Manchester City, and they are currently 8 points behind City with a much inferior goal difference.

So anything but a win against Newcastle would not be good.

And Paul Merson predicted Newcastle would win their last two matches at Burnley and at home to Bournemouth and we lost both of them 1-0.

Paul Merson – Sky Sports pundit

So it’s not particularly good news when Paul predicts a win for Newcastle.

Thankfully, he predicts Manchester United to win 2-0 on Saturday afternoon so that may be an omen for us to get something at Old Trafford.

Hope so.

Here’s what the Sky Sports pundit had to say about the match on Saturday afternoon.

“It is a must-win game for United as if I get my earlier results right, Man City will be clear and then they will need to win.”

“Man Utd have good fixtures coming up, but it will be a difficult game.”

“United (Manchester) are not far away if I am being honest – I know they went to Liverpool and Chelsea and did not score.”

“I think the plan was to beat the lesser teams and do not get beat by the big teams, but getting beat by Huddersfield has put them behind the eight ball and so they have to win.”

“Paul predicts 2-0”

A minority of Newcastle fans expect us to get something out of this game – about 40%.

From hibbit’s link: ““Mike Ashley’s public plans to sell Newcastle United are nothing but a means to stave off spending in the January transfer window, sources close to the club have revealed.

“The Sports Direct owner says he wants the club off his hands by Christmas. But it could simply be a case of history repeating itself, with ownership speculation meaning the chairman won’t have to put his hands in his pocket when the transfer window opens again on New Years Day.”

As if Mike Ashley gives a hoot about fans perception of his commitment to transfer spending. We all get it by now; the club can spend whatever it generates, minus that which Ashley backchannels away from the club toward SD’s bottom line.

Thanks for your post and advice about blocking troublesome scam pop-ups. I’m afraid it was way way above my ancient head and you may as well have written it in Sanskrit or the like.

    Jesper,

Thanks and I’ll have a look out for Opera Mini for Windows phones. But assuming it’s downloadable, I wouldn’t have a clue about disabling Edge!

    Jib

Ashley visited Teeside and you’re wondering why? Maybe it was SD related but you do appreciate that Teeside Airport’s very much in Hibbet country.

    Hibbet,

It seems. like a long way to come for a coffee and a chat. Come on, cough up, what was Ashley after or was he bringing you up to speed with bid developments? Unless you’re bound by confidentiality issues, your follows need to know. 😀

So reports are saying that Mike Ashley has told potential buyers that he wants the club sold by Christmas. Thinking about that statement should mean that for that to happen it would have to be announced within the next two to three weeks that he has agreed to sell the club too, however. Firstly they agree on the price they then announce the sale and then monies get transferred to accounts, with as much as 300 Million that much money being transferred should take about two weeks. That would work out perfect, sale announced within the first two weeks of December, then the monies transfer about two weeks, Rafa will know the amount of money for transfers by about Dec 22nd. Sound like a perfect plan to me and hopefully everyone involved at the club. ( Mr Ashley )

    POSADA THIS YOUR SOURCES

new exclusive quoting ‘sources’ close to Newcastle United, claims that Mike Ashley has no real intention of selling the club.

Instead it is stated, it is simply a means to ‘stave off spending in the January transfer window’.

Hmmm, not so sure about this one.

The claims/exclusive come from ‘The London Economic’, a website that usually specialises in quirky stories about popular culture, from politics to lifestyle/entertainment.

The writer describes himself as a ‘business and economics journalist’ and says that by spinning a line about putting the club up for sale, Mike Ashley could be ‘instead pocketing the fee as part of a club sale ruse’.

I think most of us would see Mike Ashley capable of anything but it is difficult to see exactly how somebody like this would be having access to ‘sources close to the club’.

It sounds more like yet another wanting to have a piece of the Newcastle United circus, getting cheap clicks/attention by spinning a yarn.

The ‘sources close to the club’ more likely to be reading a few other articles elsewhere without any substance/knowledge of what is, or isn’t happening at Newcastle United.

In this period of time there is a vacuum, fans/general public starved of any news on progression or otherwise of the sale of the club.

Everything could be happening, or nothing, but I don’t think this particular ‘source’ is worth worrying about…

    The London Economic:

“Mike Ashley’s public plans to sell Newcastle United are nothing but a means to stave off spending in the January transfer window, sources close to the club have revealed.

“The Sports Direct owner says he wants the club off his hands by Christmas. But it could simply be a case of history repeating itself, with ownership speculation meaning the chairman won’t have to put his hands in his pocket when the transfer window opens again on New Years Day.

“Newcastle boss Rafael Benítez slammed Mike Ashley in the summer for revising down his ambitious plans for the club.

“Just £35 million was invested in low-key acquisitions, which is less than newly-promoted counterparts Huddersfield Town.

“Benitez met with head of recruitment Steve Nickson on Monday and made no secret of the fact that he is looking to recruit heavily in the next transfer window.

“But owner Ashley may be using well-worn tactics to deny the Spaniard the chance to splash the club’s Premier League windfall, instead pocketing the fee as part of a club sale ruse.”

I was hoping to speak to someone tonight and get a bit of further info ‘re takeover. However whilst viewing FB this morning he has a break with his better half in the Canaries.

What I will repeat I was told definitely two parties. One was Stavely the other was unknown. So Sparky helps out here with a source informing him of a local based consortium.

    So there are the two.

Due diligence was completed allegedly but I do not know if both completed, I was only told two definite parties entered into due diligence.

What I can say is THIS WILL HAPPEN. My source I have known for twenty years and I believe him 100%.

To be fair there won’t be much more to be heard until both parties make their next move. Then we might be able to offer a bit more.

It all adds up when each ‘snippet’ is pieced together.

    Imo

No the Mag was not my source.

Handy Mandy. The bloke that sits next to me at the match told me before KO vs Liverpool that she was at the game. Hence Jib is probs correct. It was common knowledge.

Expat. Not getting your idea that Rafa knows Handy Mandy so she must be genuine. May be he is like a lot on this blog. A sucker for a bit of glam and a pretty face. There’s no fool like an old fool.

Handy Mandy had a bit of money in the family. Opened a posh restaurant where the racing rich and famous did business. Then did some good net working from there.
Fair play to her for that, it makes the world go round, but it does not make her a genius financier.
Mikey could have brought in a more credible Stalking Horse, but he went for the cheap option. Probably came with 70% off.

Lesh…You won’t need to disable edge on your windows phone mate.

Just install Opera mini from the windows App Store and add it to your tile screen and use it instead of edge.

If you have an internet icon on your tile screen which is randomly set to edge then I seem to remember from past experience that can be changed to any other browser as well!

    Amanda Stavely……

Staveley’s financial advisory firm PCP Capital Partners helped broker the sale of Manchester City from Thaksin Shinawatra to the Citizens’ current owner Sheikh Mansour back in 2009.

I don’t think hervtrack record is that bad. I also think she would have better things to do than be used as a ‘prop’ for Ashley to make a bit more money. No business in the world would ever take her serious again.

If she was not interested in buying the club I think she would of come out and informed the press by now.

We all wondered why Bishop was brought in months ago, no bigspending in the summer, Sparky aware of the property deal by December 15th, Ash makes statement up for sale, Rafa still here !

Then a bit of info comes out about two parties due diligence…..

Shire, Hibbit and Sparky all offer good intelligence from what they know to be reliable sources.

Posada hears something different but we won’t find out exactly what is happening until either another leak to an ITK or it is announced.

I have a feeling we will hear something next week – just in time for me to enjoy whilst on another trip to Lanzarote.

Keep the faith chaps, it’s going to happen.

(I see Micky turned down the Mackems….What did they expect from a former Toon winger)

no one knows the second parties identity
no one knows for sure which one of the 2 parties has bid

    what we do know
2 parties have carried out due diligence
2 parties have completed due diligence
one party has put an offer forward
we have no idea which of the 2 parties made the bid or when the bid was made
    hope this helps

    As I don’t.
You cannot limit this blog to things you can prove beyond all reasonable doubt, otherwise nobody would ever say anything.
The Blog used to be about a bit of goss, craik and I’ve heard this and that. Now folks are reluctant to comment as the accusations start. Name your source, your making it up, bla bla bla.
The reality is as I say, some folks don’t like what I am saying.
