Some Initial Comments From Rafa Benitez’ Press Conference

Rafa Benitez hs just given his first press conference in two weeks for the game at Manchester United tomorrow afternoon.

Here’s some of what Rafa has said:

“You aren’t happy when you lose games especially the way we lost the last one. We’re doing what we have to do but we need to be more precise in front of goal.”

“Lascelles & Atsu are both out. Atsu is out for at least a week. Jamaal might be back next week but we will see.”

“It is still a learning process for our young squad. The target is to stay up, get 40 points, then try to go as high as possible after that”

“My contact is Lee Charnley. Two or three times we talk about the team.”

“We play Manchester United. It is not key who the managers are. He is a good manager who has won a lot.”

“I’m more concerned about Lukaku, Mata and Rashford”.

It’s going to be a very difficult game for us tomorrow and it comes after two successive losses when we have failed to score.

And given Manchester United have yet to concede a goal at home in the league this season what are the chances we can score tomorrow?

Not many fans think we can win this game tomorrow.

    If we get new owners.
With lots of financial clout would they trust Rafa to spend 200 million.
    I’m not sure I would.
Not after Sels, lazaar and J.Murphy.
I’d want in place plenty of checks and balances.

Rumours that Pogba and Ibrahimovic both in contention for tomorrow… Don’t know how to take that as both should very rusty after big periods out, particularly Ibrahimovic.

Surely it would be more “fascinating” if the teams were of similar strength?
