This Is Very Good News For Newcastle On The Injury Front

There was some good news yesterday for Newcastle fans as it looks like Mikel Merino’s back injury is not as bad as first through.

There’s a video doing the rounds showing Mikel running with the ball and turning and it looked like his back was OK.

He has been training at his former club Osasuna.

The news is that he will be returning to Newcastle today but of course the 21-year-old is not fit to play tomorrow at Old Trafford.

He was allowed to return to Spain for his recovery, and he has not been part of the training over the last two weeks which has been designed by Rafa to get us something out of a difficult game at Manchester United.

Mikel Merino – in training again

While he is not fit for tomorrow’s game there seems a good chance he can be fit for the very important home game against a good Watford side a week tomorrow.

Here’s the video from local radio station Carrusel Deportivos Navarra showing Mikel in training:

Mikel has been a terrific signing for us, and he has been missed over the last two games – both 1-0 defeats.

There are reports that because of his excellent play some of the big Spanish clubs could be in for him over the summer transfer window, but Rafa will resist those moves if they come.

Rafa wants Merino to be a cornerstone of the top side he wants to build at Newcastle over the next year or two.

Mikel has also said he can achieve his dreams in football at Newcastle United and the fans just love the lad – who is very modest and straightforward.

This all sounds good to us.

And for about £7M Mikel was a terrific signing in the summer for us.

We may hear more about Mikel’s situation during Rafa’ press conference this afternoon for the game at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Jib – I think it was last week when we were featured on MOTD show with Shearer’s interview with Lascelles.

    Veltman,
Shelvey got a five game ban for very similar comments.

    Frank pingles come sock

The Liverpool connection was there to be retested at Wembly if it were true that Stavely and John Henry had breakfast – if indeed they did meet up.

If Liverpool were first choice for the buyers then they are obviously well wedged up. The difference between the cost of buying them and us can hopefully be spent on the team .

Yeah that’s what I thought when I was told but hopefully by that stage due dillegence would have been well underway and it was just a coincidence they were both spotted at the match , apparently there was lots of owners at the match.

I have no idea about if they met for breakfast.

I’ve asked the guy I know to let me know if he hears anything new , I said I want to know before the yellow ticker on sky !!

    Liverpool wanted a billion

With the right money spent with Rafa in charge I am sure we can compete with Liverpool , would take 300/400 million over the next free years but it can’t see why not (they still have Milner)

It would be a deserved kick in the balls for them down the road if we got a new ambitious owner and they went into administration and dropped to league one.

I’m starting to grin, even the thought of it is highly amusing.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself here but it looks like we will be took over. If we do how exciting is this January transfer going to be. I really hope the owner sets a president and gives Rafa £100M+ in January

Pardon me for being scepticle on the information you have provided, which may I say, I have read through newspapers, other ITKs and various blog sites but your credibility went out the window when you failed to spell correctly, even after several hints from other bloggers, the correct name of the major interested party in Amanda Staveley.

    Just saying like
