He Wasn’t Our Man Of The Match – But This Player Did Himself A Lot Of Good

According to our readers, Jonjo Shelvey was Newcastle’s best player at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Jonjo got a good 32% of the vote, and if there was a vote for Newcastle’s best player, Jonjo would probably come out on top – although young Mikel Merino is also very highly thought of by the fans.

DeAndre Yedlin takes second place with 25% of the vote after his great assist for Dwight Gayle’s goal after just 14 minutes.

Yedlin like the rest of our back four were struggling to contain the Manchester United forwards in the final 60 minutes of the game, and Rafa will no doubt be working with the defense this week in training.

But probably the man who got the most out of the game was young Jacob Murphy who looked good when he had the ball in what was only his third start this season – he did himself a lot of good at Old Trafford.

Jacob Murphy – had a good game at Old Trafford

Jacob was our most expensive signing in the summer but as Rafa has said a number of times – he is doing well in training and improving.

The manager has vast experience on how to bring young players through to become stars of the future.

We hope that’s exactly what happens with Jacob.

Aren’t opinions great, and I respect them all but in my humble opinion Murphy should not be in the first team as is just not good enough at present….Should have throw Aarons in after his speaking out to the press, and said here you go gob shite show why you should be in the side 😉

I had been questioning why rafa spent so much on this guy (presumably he didn’t know Ashley would be closing the purse) but a good game at old Trafford would be a serious lift for any young player so hope we see it again. We’ll done Jacob, I’m back in my box for now. Our style of requires the speed of Yedlin and Co. Hopefully murphy and Gayle can add to this.

murphy offered a lot more than ritchie
He deserves to start more often on the right
    Atsu on the left
    Ritchie on the bench
