Newcastle fans have been on Twitter discussing the potential sale of Newcastle United to a consortium put together by Amanda Staveley.
It looks like this week and the next offer could be crucial so let’s hope it’s a good one.
We also hope that Mike Ashley really wants to sell Newcastle; with all the money Premier League clubs will be getting in the future, we hope he doesn’t change his mind.
Here are some typical tweets from Newcastle supporters.
Probably not true but seen a few reports over the past few days that if their is Qatari based investment with PCP’s bid for #NUFC, they will want to followe the same model as PSG.
Imagine.

The malaise and deception of one man has overshadowed this great club for a decade, collective prayers of geordie brothers across the globe are about to be answered at last? Can Staveley release us from our miseries once and for all? Geordie nation is holding its breath #NUFC

Isn’t this true …..
There will be uproar if this takeover doesn’t go ahead. #NUFC

MA knew this was happening and thats why he gave #Rafa minimal funds in the TW, he can’t say ‘oh btw i gave out £100m in the summer so want £480m for #NUFC‘ take the next offer and do one fatty!!
— Ronnie? (@dazhino) November 22, 2017
If Ashley had just backed Rafa with a decent amount of money we would be relatively safe and no need for relegation clauses in any sale. Yet Another bit of bad business by him #nufc
— Lee Gibson (@Leegib81) November 22, 2017
You can bet if Rafa is given a shed load of money, he won’t blow it on mercenaries like Adebayour & Robinho like Citeh did.#nufc

Below – Yes – right!
I’ve been told there’s a press release/statement being made tomorrow about the bid being accepted ? @SkySports_Keith any truth? #nufc

The celebrations on the streets of Harare are nothing compared to what the Toon will be like when Ashley’s reign comes to an end #radge #nufc

And a takeover with actual ambition being shown at #nufc would finish them off completely

Message to Amanda Staveley- for a Champions League game I GUARANTEE you there wouldn’t be any empty seats at #NUFC unlike #MCFC

Given that this alleged bid of 300 million was made last week, don’t be surprised if the story has moved on and the next plot is just around the corner. #NUFC

Why do I get the feeling this deal isn’t going to happen or Rafa isn’t going to get anywhere near the funds we hope if it does? #NUFC #notusedtogoodnews

Read on a blog earlier from a so called reliable source (everyone else seemed convinced this guy doesn’t talk shite) that a deal has been agreed and there will be announcements tomorrow. My God if that’s true… Be hillarious if it is aswell cos all other reports conflict. #NUFC

Comment #2If there is any accuracy in any of the reports it makes a complete mockery of non-disclosure agreements. If I was a journalist I would just make stuff up from all sorts of completely unreliable sources just to have a story and rinse the pay per click advertising money.
I’m sure stuff is going on but I wouldn’t believe anything you’ve read. Everyone is making it up as they go along. Has anyone read a single article with a direct quote or a proper source referenced?
Like everyone else I can’t wait to finally see the deal go through but I think the press are probably building expectations massively prematurely.

Comment #6If ashley turns these offers down, surely it makes Rafa’s or any other potential replacement manager’s job totally untenable. They would know they are working for someone who actively wants to sell the club and who won’t back them. I know there are low grade calibre peope like pardew who can brown nose their way through it, but any principled coaches like Rafa wouldn’t stomach it, knowing what could have been.

Comment #12JIB from last thread: Is their anything in that info or just pure speculation? I’ve had a nagging feeling that we could be being used to get Liverpool to lower their asking price. Horrible to think someone would do that to us but in that line of business anything is possible. Really burst my bubble when you posted that.

Comment #17I dont see smokescreens here. Either Ashley accepts the bid or he doesnt.
If he doesnt, then expect Rafa gone and eelegation to follow.
I think a certain amount of posturing is currently going on and the club will ultimately be sd for around 340 million quid.

Comment #18Did you see Sky Sports news last night.
They had this old boy financial expert on.
Can’t recall his name, but think he is well regarded.
Gets on now and again with the financial and city of London stories.
He said AS is trying it on.
NUFC is worth at least 300 million.
If you are serious about the Premier League.
You come in and make a statement.
You take out Ashley in one and then get on with it.
Otherwise are you serious about competing with Man City and Chelsea.
Don’t blame the messenger if you don’t like it.

Of course she is trying it on. Ashley is supposedly desperate to sell and allegedly needs cash by early next month. AS is therefore in the boss seat and appears to be the only interested bidder. She can afford to dangle him along in order to get the best deal for her clients. Basic common sense really.

Comment #20Posada, Sky Sports are the last people to believe and are possibly influenced by Jim White and his Ashley connections. That expert they interviewed is like the expert witness in a trial – carefully demonstrating his point by showing cherry-picked facts. Not necessarily impartial at all.

Comment #21This isn’t going to end well. The unjustified adoration for a woman, who is basically the acceptable face of a hard boiled equity acquisition organisation, is pitiful. If she looked like Ena Sharples maybe fans might take the time to ponder on what exactly NUFC might mean to PCP Capital Partners. Are they interested in thrilling football and trophies, or the massive land value of SJP, situated a mere John McNamee clearance away from a thriving city’s commercial and retail heart? This looks more like a drug gang moving in on someone else’s territory.
Overreaction? OK, maybe, but the sycophancy and unbridled rose tinted comments on here are too much. You only have to consider WHU, and the way KB & co sold its soul to condemn the team to play in a totally unsuitable, sterile athletics stadium. Do we really want to be heading down fast under that noted relegation expert Moyes, Ashley’s incompetence replaced by deliberate and disinterested asset stripping.
I suspect (once the Ms Amanda thrill is finally gone) there could well be weeping and wailing on these pages for the ‘good times’ of being able to play in the City itself, even at the ‘SportsDirect.com@StJamesPark Stadium’ (‘a rose by any other name’ and all that). Of course PCP would tactfully let the supporters keep the SJP name, while shifting the Toon itself lock, stock and stadium out of the toon itself! After all, Ashley has already been selling off bits and pieces of the NUFC property portfolio, so are you really going to bet that Ms Stavely and her bean counting henchmen are not going to start disposing of the rest once their feet are under the board room table?
This is a time to exercise extreme caution, not to wave the white flag and plaster pics of Stavely all over.

Comment #22Is Mike Ashley as desperate as we all hope he is.
Wishful thinking.
What do we know as opposed to speculation.
We know he is a billionaire.
He’s always been a hard negotiator.
He kept his nerve during the financial crisis when Sports Direct shares went below £1.
Interests rates are low if he needed to borrow.
He wants out. Yeh, but he has never let anyone take the you know what.

Comment #25Seriously Ashley has made God knows how many costly mistakes…it’s only fair if a serious bidder is taking those mistakes in to consideration!
Why is Newcastle worth £300M or even more? Because Ashley would like to make a profit? Newcastle as a brand is not worth that much as it stands…but Ashley would like to make a profit as it seems!
If our resident ITK’s are right in what they are reporting then Ashley wants/needs to sell! Does he really have any bargain powers unless he never were that serious about selling!

The fact Ashley has:
1……admitted on air that he cannot compete with other PL owners
2…..that he will not put any more of his own money into the club
3…..the ridiculous low budget given to Rafa last summer
4……he no longer attends games therefore his interest is no longer there
5……wants out of football altogether judging by his wholesale share sales in Rangers
6……officially put NUFC up for sale

Comment #39Exactly Hibbit. There’s no real choice as Markaccus said. Either we get taken over by persons unknown or we stay part of Sports Direct advertising arm but with an owner who is pee’d off that he couldn’t sell us to fund his massive property venture, a manager who is rightly angry at being led down the garden path (again) by the current owner and leaves – throwing the fans into proper revolt and the club into turmoil yet again.
No brainer really.
