We may have a decent chance of even winning the game against Watford on Saturday afternoon with Paul Merson predicting Newcastle to lose 2-1.
It’s a strange thing but when Paul predicts a poor result for Newcastle we usually do quite well.
The rot started when Paul predicted we would beat both Burnley and Bournemouth and we lost both games 1-1.
This is what Paul has written on Sky Sports:
“I fancy Watford to win this. I watched Newcastle v Bournemouth the other week at St James’,.”
“Bournemouth had some really good chances in that game, and I think Watford are a better side than Bournemouth.”
“I don’t really see much up front for Newcastle, and I’m not sure why Rafa Benitez doesn’t play Mitrovic more. He’s a presence and can put himself about.”
“I think Dwight Gayle maybe needs someone beside him to bully people, and then hit them with his pace.”
“Prediction: 1-2”
That logic that Paul uses doesn’t always work in football but it’s also true that Watford are a good side with a good new manager in Marco Silva.
We really need to win this game.

Comment #2I don’t jump into ‘wum mode’.
I’m just not very active. Usually.
Hence I miss stuff. I do full time care for my mum so I can’t just be on here 24/7 to see these changes.

Comment #4The bloke lost THOUSANDS gambling, why would anyone trust his judgement? Something I was looking at the other day lads n lasses was our fixture list and I have to say, outside of the top 6 I could see us taking points off most of them if we can find our shooting boots.

Comment #7Rafa is brilliant but his persistence in selecting Joselu is baffling. Joselu offers absolutely nothing. If he doesn’t trust Mitro, fine, but drop Joselu and put anyone up front. Joselu is not near premier league quality. I’d be interested in seeing if he could do anything at chaampionship level. What a fraud.

Comment #15Watford were good against West Ham.
Good passing and good first touch from their players.
Probs well coached by their Manager.
But, they also gave a poor West Ham 3 or 4 good chances.

Comment #16I would like to thank Paul Merson for his wonderful prediction. Every time he says we will lose we win, so please Paul throughout the whole season predict loses for Newcastle United.
