One Change – Mo Diame Starts Against Watford – Mikel Merino On Bench

Rafa Benitez has just announced his team for the home game this afternoon against a good Watford side.

We really need to pick up some points today after losing our last three games, although we are still positioned 12th in the league table.

Mo Diame – gets the start today in place of Isaac Hayden

It looks like there is one change from last week with Mo Diame coming in for the suspended Isaac Hayden.

Most of us were hoping that Mikel Merino would get the start today but at least he’s on the bench and could start at West Brom on Tuesday night.

About three fans in five think we can win this game this afternoon – and we certainly need all 3 points.

If anybody has to score for Watford, please do not let it be Cleverley…

Joselu keeps getting a game though, let’s hope he finds some semblance of form today. Same with Murphy and manquillo otherwise this could end up backfiring

    @jib
he’s said he’s no longer going to support Wolves (a Led Zeppelin thing). Feels good to see someone else walking round Chongqing wearing the true colours.

Need a win today to nip in the bud any growing fears we’re going to be embroiled in a relegation battle throughout the season.

My confidence is currently 80/20 in favour of us staying up, another loss today would knock that down to 65/35.

Hope Lejeune puts in a good performance, he’s due one and if he wants to dissuade me of the notion he’s just a better on the ball French Willo.

Hope Murphy icks up where he left off and doesn’t shrink in front of an expectant home crowd.

If Joselu turns up, it would be nice to play with 11 also.

Going for my favourite scoreline – 2 – 0 to The Toon. Got a knack of successfully predicting 2-0 to us.

That’s quite a terrible team on paper.. But let’s see what happens. A draw will be a good result today.

    Prediction. Newcastle 0 Watford 2.

Just watched MOTD2 with extended highlights of Watfords last game, Yedlin and Manquilio are going to have to be on their games, be aware of not following players inside and leaving the space in behind.

i’ve been mightily impressed with watford and the way silva really has a go at teams. Huge threat up front with richarlison and Gray with Doucoure being one of the finds of the season too.

Got to feel sorry for us, WHU, CP and now WBA always getting the one dimensionally, ultra defensive, recycled allardyce, pulis, pardew, moyes etc

Mbemba, Merino, Aarons, Mitrovic – would have then all starting.

Rafa’ said stubborness with Mitro is costing the team, he’s giving chances to a CF who doesn’t score in a team who don’t score and are 1 win in 6(?).

Best team to play has Mitro in for Joselu, not even arguing the case for Aarons ahead of Murphy or Mbemba vs Manquillo.

Should be interesting to what formation Watford play, it could be 4-3-3

Watford lost out to Everton in Watford’s last away game, but Watford limited Everton to only 38% possession. That could play into Benitez’ hands nicely.

2-0 Watford I’m going for today they play some decent stuff and know how to score goals they score 1 we are fcuked.

Wonder how bad Darlow is in training to still be behind Eliot, Mitro must not even turn up for Rafa to keep picking Joselu.

I’m glad Rafa has dropped Perez again shame it had to be after way too many bad games by that account Manquillo will be dropped soon thank god Dummett is nearly fit. Wow can’t believe I said that.

Is rafa being stubborn or in reality are our options just extremely limited?

Gayle is now getting a game instead of Perez and Merino has to be brought back slowly.

MBemba is a tad ulucky but Gamez also had a great game at left back too and was instantly dropped, so no need for the cheap Spanish favouritism snidey remarks from some.

Mitro will always divide opinion. Other than that it’s not like we are overly blessed in quality personnel to choose from.

Watford blog has a picture up of Gordon Ramsay shouting at somebody, which they are referring to as Matt Ritchie. To be fair, I see the resemblance.

If Ritchie starts LW and Murphy RW like last weekend, hopefully we’ll see Ritchie get much further up the pitch much more frequently than against Man U. Barely saw him as an attacking threat in that match – get plenty of ball into the box for Gayle to sniff out.

lets hope for the best at least every substitution
is an upgrade minus perez of course

in for a tough one with this line up
bench almost stronger than the line up shame
but hey maybe horselu might get hattrick lol.

we really need to avoid fourth defeat in a row
so i hope some players prove me wrong.

so cmon boys surprse me and bring home 3 points
