Alan Shearer Issues A Warning To Newcastle Players

Even though Rafa has said many times the players don’t even talk about the potential takeover of Newcastle some fans are wondering how the team can suddenly start playing so badly.

Yesterday was easily the worst performance this season, and maybe the worst performance of a Rafa coached Newcastle team since he joined us in March of last year.

If the players think they can use the takeover as any kind of excuse (in fairness to them we doubt they would) Alan Sharer has come out on Match of the Day last night and said they cannot use that as any excuse.

That’s because it has nothing at all to do with them.

Alan Shearer – don’t use takeover as an excuse

This is some of what Alan said on Match of the Day last night:

“The players can’t use that as an excuse. The takeover has got nothing to do with them whatsoever,”

“They’ve got to go out and do the business and perform a hell of a lot better than they did today.”

“But for Rafa’s situation, he needs the takeover to happen quickly because he needs new players in January.”

We’ve seen four successive defeats and scored only one goal in those games.

Also, our goal difference has been shot (it’s now -6) with Newcastle conceding 7 goals in the last two games when in the previous 11 games we conceded only 10 goals.

Goal difference can be important when teams are tied with the same number of points.

Newcastle somehow need to beat West Brom at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

Another defeat in that game would be another calamity before we play at Stamford Bridge in the late kickoff game on Saturday.

Comments welcome.

That’s the difference Southampton an average team an average performance but two chances to Austin two goals
Southampton have 3 cf that would be first choice for us

We’ll be in a relegation battle before long, which was/is enivitable. We all knew before the season kicked off we’d need to really strengthen. Joselu?? Sorry but we’re no more than a glorified championship squad, which badly lacks hight and quality.
Rafa has done well for the players we have but it was only a matter of time before we would be exposed for what we are.
Big money needs to be spent in January or we’ll be relegated again.

If the takeover doesn’t happen the atmosphere at the club will be toxic. Ashley has to sell up or the consequences will be disastrous for the club. We may find ourselves in a irretrievable situation and Ashley can forget £300m.

Charlie Austin – who just scored two goals so far in one match – is that the guy we wanted to sign but didn’t and got Joselu ?

We’re in a relegation battle and have been since the start of the season. The fact that we made a decent start to the season didnt mean that we weren’t in a relegation scrap.

Sorry Alan you were much admired as a player but somewhat lacking as manager and tactician.

On another topic I notice a growing number of posts on here spouting Corbinista and momentum drivel. Venezuela aren’t represented In the English Premiership. Let’s stop the politicising and kindly remember this is a football blog.

We totally remind me of boro last season.
We need to work very hard as a team as a defensive unit, or we let in a hat full of goals, but like Boro we have very little to no cutting edge so scoring goals is difficult. In fact we’ve had no real cutting edge since Ba left.

Jib, the club going being relegated without investment is stating the obvious? It does not seem obvious to me. Not many people that made predictions (maybe none) for Martoon to log, had the club to go down this season.

I think perhaps the lack of signings
in the summer may not have been completely
the result of Ashley’s parsimony .
I remember when Rafa had been at the coaches
forum in Switzerland and then joined Charnley and
others in N.Italy where they talked to Genoa and
    Sampdoria about various targets.
It all suddenly came to a grinding halt.
I wonder if that is when the purchase was
first mooted and that is why there was a
moratorium on new signings , at the instigation of the buyers.

Well well! Given your response maybe you should wear the hat, it clearly fits.
Stop masquerading as a toon fan. We’re not all simple folk. The vast majority of the travelling toon army give unconditional support to the football team without any blatant agenda. Many have commented that but for Ed’s condition we would ask to have you banned from his football blog.
    Think on it.

Ba was class. He could finish, movement brilliant and was such a presence. To be honest far too good for Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United.

Now we have José Luis Sanmartín Mato. Rated by only two Newcastle fans(hellodjo & markaccus). He’d be lucky to get a game Sunday league. He offers nothing. Genuinely, playing Colback up top would be just as effective.

Play for a draw against WBA. Need to end this awful run ASAP.

Another few defeats may put pressure on FatAsh to sell up – he cant afford another relegation as we wont bounce straight back with this squad. Its either take whats on offer or see your investment crumble – even FatAsh wouldnt be that stupid …………..

The Mag just put an article up, confirming Pardew is now in talks with West Brom. I know some fear his new manager bounce, but wouldn’t giving Pardew a good stuffing be a great way to break this losing streak. Something to look forward to.

I agree with 3 at the back and also we had those 3 wins when Merino was playing instead of Shelvey, not with him. I’d pick Merino over Shelvey every time. Just as good a passer without the added nonsense shelvey brings
