Can Newcastle Break Their Four Game Losing Streak At West Brom?

Newcastle have hit a bid patch and we have lost our last four games.

We lost 1-0 at Burnley and 1-0 at home to Bournemouth with the goal conceded two minutes into stoppage time just before the two-week International break.

But in our last two games, we have conceded 7 goals with a 4-1 defeat at Manchester United and a shocking display and a 3-0 defeat at home last Saturday against a good Watford side.

That was our worst performance of the season and in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 52,000 at St. James’ Park.

We are currently placed 14th in the league with 14 points from our 13 games and a goal difference of -6 and West Brom are 3 points below us.

Rafa Benitez – has to turn this around

It’s a game we have to start winning if we are going to stay in the Premier League this season.

West Brom are without a manager and lost four games in a row before doing well over the weekend to get a 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

Tony Pulis was fired early last week and they have won only one of their six home games this season.

Joselu started brightly but then went backwards.Poor finishing coupled with low confidence. He has to be dropped.
Don’t know what the issue is with Mitrovic but if not him,he should play someone else.Coincidentally,as soon as he started misfiring, poster hellodjo disappeared and nowhere to be seen since.

So there’s a few people lining up to throw the manager under the bus. KK, KD, GS all lost four games in a row, Pardew done it about four times before smashing home a six. I’ve had to endure being labelled deluded for the last thirteen years because of the idiots that wanted SBR sacked for a better manager.

THAT All depends on if Rafa picks a winning team.

If Mitrovic, Merino, Mbemba start ahead of Justlose Diame Manquillio, then we have a chance.

Murphy did just ok, it was a very poor show by all and he was the best of a very bad bunch, IMO still didnt deserve MOM, that went to Mitro for me, did more in his cameo than most of them put together..

time to put Woodman in goal, never really seen him play, but he has to better than the 2 clowns at 1&2. that own goal was more elliots fault than yedlin

just to clarify this this 30 days exclusivity deal
its a period of UP to 30 days which means you have the deal to your self for for UP to 30 days with 30 days being the maximum period of exclusivity
no restrictions on the deal being completed on day 1 or day 30
but if no deal is done in that time scale its put back on the open market

5th bottom for goals scored 11
8th from top shots per game, average 13

problem is most of them are from distance.

    no faith in the forwards

I imagine Rafa will revert to one up front in place of the 4-4-2 which doesn’t seem to be working.
The one up front, with a more solid defence is probably his preferred formation, and it’s the one which had conceded so few goals earlier in the season.
The set up with two up front, with the players at our disposal at present, has not resulted in more goals but in a shed load of more conceded.
We’ve missed captain and top centre back Lascelles and clearly Rafa’s preferred LB, Dummett, in the last couple of games. Expect a stronger defensive performance when they return. As for scoring goals, the likes of Ritchie and Perez need to contribute more until, hopefully, we can acquire a proven CF in January.

Watching Match of the Day last night on Charlie Austin summed up his play instead of running all over the pitch getting involved in moves, defending linking up on the wings.

He ran the channel the width of the six-yard box in front of the goal always up with play where a centre-forward should be. Maybe a lesson for Joselu and Mitrovich

Rafa said: “It will be tough, but I still think we are in a good position. If my target for the first half of the season is 20 points and we have 14, we have to be sure we use these next six games to get those points and then try to improve in the second half of the season. We have to learn in the Premier League, that if you make one mistake …

“Good position” ? – sorry have to disagree with that. That’s manager speak for we’ve messed up recently so are worse off than we should be. Outside of the top six, Watford and Burnley are in good positions.
Only slight problem there is that we’ve thrown away up to say nine points in recent games which would have put us in 21 points before the next batch of fixtures. Reality bites.

Rafa needs to pull Elliot, Joselu and Diame out of the team and maybe give Ritche a rest or a good bollocking and refresh the whole approach for the WBA game and rethink his use and timing of substitutes. That would be helpful.

For years Ashley wouldn’t buy that third CB which allowed for no competition in the defence at all and one of the worst GD’s in the division. Now he’s got a manager who’s convinced him you need four he’s compensated by not spending money on a striker.

I have to say I’m a bit concerned about the “New Manager Syndrome” it looks likely that a certain Mr A Pardew will be named manager of West Brom today – if that’s the case I hope he loses his first match tomorrow but we’ve all seen it before where a new manager comes in and an underperforming team seem to find that extra commitment from somewhere. This is most definately a game that Newcastle United need to win as Chelsea away is probably one of the most difficult away games of the season! Hoping for three points tomorrow but one would be better than bugga all……..

Joselu or Mitro up front ? Both seem to be sub premiership standard.
I suppose that Mitro’s record of goals for Serbia should really get him a starting spot seeing how feeble Joselu has been in front of goal.

It’s been made more disappointing as it looked like we were about to have a great season. If you’d been offered 14th the day after the window closed I think most people would have took it.

Not sure that style of CF play is what Rafa wants though?
