24-year-old DeAndre Yedlin does not mess around and doesn’t look for excuses when he has a poor game.
He had a very poor game on Saturday at home to Watford when we were surprisingly taken apart 3-0 by a much better side, and it was possibly DeAndre’s worst game ever in a Newcastle shirt.
Maybe.
Rafa will likely make some changes for tomorrow night’s game at the Hawthorns, so we’ll wait and see if the 49 times capped American International keeps his place.
DeAndre Yedlin – in action on Saturday against Watford
The former Seattle Sounder was asked if he thought this was his worst game for Newcastle and this is how he answered that question as reported in the Shields Gazette:
“It’s probably up there.”
“We’re just trying to stay positive,” “It’s very hard to after a performance like that, but it’s what you have to do.”
“We are going to have drops like this, so you have to try to stay positive and bounce back.”
“We have a game on Tuesday, so in that sense we can try to move on quickly.”
“I don’t really know what it is. I just know we need to bounce back on Tuesday.”
“I’m not going to walk out of here with a smile on my face,”
“As a player, if you win 10 in a row and you lose one, or you lose 10 in a row, you’re still going to be angry when you lose.”
“It’s the nature of the game. “We’re a team, so we’re going to take losses as a team and we’ll have to move forward from this as a team.”
“We have to stay together, not just as a team but as a club, the fans as well. “That’s what this whole club is built on.”
“We have to make sure we stick together during this rough patch and come through it.”
We are still short of full-backs but Chancel Mbemba can play in either full-back position, and he’s more experienced than the American.
Jesus Gamez was also in the squad for Saturday’s game and could come in tomorrow night.
But sometimes after a terrible game, Rafa keeps the player in the side so he can learn from his previous mistakes and hopefully play much better.
Paul Dummett is coming back from injury but will not make it tomorrow night; the local lad should be back soon.
We are hoping Mikel Merino will get a start at the Hawthorns.

Comments welcome.

just to clarify this this 30 days exclusivity deal
its a period of UP to 30 days which means you have the deal to your self for for UP to 30 days with 30 days being the maximum period of exclusivity
no restrictions on the deal being completed on day 1 or day 30
but if no deal is done in that time scale its put back on the open market

Comment #6Yedlin was looking really good defensively especially against Liverpool and Southampton where he marked Tadic , Mane and Salah out the game when they played on his side hes had help from Richie as well but both of them seem knackered which considering we don’t have a lot of possession in games is understandable!
Perez came in for a lot of flak and has been dropped but we look wide open without him hounding teams and winning tackles as Gayle and Joselu are not those type of players who get stuck in
We have been a strange team this season we have went far too defensive against Burnley , Brighton and Huddersfield and never went for it in games we really should have picked up points and then against better teams such as Southampton , Liverpool , Man Utd and Watford we have went toe to toe and got 4 points ?!
West Brom should really be a team we should be attacking they are dire we need a win nothing else will do

Comment #10I was quite glad that Deeney was suspended but they had Gray as a more than adequate replacement!
I suppose thats the difference if we had Gray’s pace and power or Deeney’s overrall ability we would be in business ! Both would be perfect for our formation and are much better than anything we have

Comment #11If this takeover wasn’t happening I wonder if Ashley would sack Rafa. After allowing Mcardew to smash every unwanted record with impunity it would be just the type of idiotic thing he would do.

Previous post – totally agree –
RAFA stays and given some money he will build us into a decent Premiership team/squad.
As most fans want him to stay – me included – but – fans in the Gallowgate on Saturday are getting a tad agitated by the stubborness of substitutions and the starting eleven

Comment #22Perhaps Ashley could reimburse me for having to watch Saturday’s match. Then again I’d be happy if just gets into a taxi and heads off into the sunset.
Watford fans have been praising their club after they forked out £2,000 in taxi fares for stranded fans en route to Newcastle.
A supporters’ coach broke down just 100 miles into the 270-mile journey.
But the club came to their rescue and arranged for 30 or so supporters to be collected from the nearby services and ferried all the way to the game.

The information that’s being provided by you and Shire suggest that the parties are in effect going through the process of sorting the detail out and if that’s the case we should hear some hopefully good news soon – unless another bidder firms up an interest.

Comment #29That victory bought him far too much time, the rest of that season was gawd awful bar the 5-0 of a shocking West Ham and the 4-1 of Wolves. It was strange that he scored four twice that season with Hughtons team yet only managed it another four times in the rest of his time here and one of those was against nine man Stoke.

If he does not pick these players tomorrow they may as well not be at the club.
Not just after a bad performance but the fact that they are fresh and did not play just three days before the West Brom game.
