Newcastle stopped the rot tonight and let’s never say our players are not up for the fight.
We were 2-0 down early in the second half, but Newcastle came back to break the four game losing streak and get a good point with a 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns.
The players showed a lot of character tonight, and we deserved the point, and it could even have been 3 with a little bit of luck.
Jonjo Shelvey and Florian Lejeune – react to late equalizing goal

Comment #1The Ashley Land grab has started!
This could be massive. Brixton Market and the surrounding area is ripe for development / exploitation.
Could be one of the biggest, and most profitable ventures in London. No surprise he wants as much cash ASAP!

Mike Ashley splashes cash!
Shock horror!
This is why he needs to sell NUFC. This is the start of a massive spend!

Nothing was guaranteed. Right from the start I was told from end of Nov onwards to Xmas things will start to happen. Things have gone quiet at the minute though

Comment #14My appologies to Manx, but Ritchie winds me up. Good points: work rate, attitude, hounding on the high press and dead ball delivery. Bad points: decision making, final ball, slow, doesn’t track runners, always shoots when better options are available.
In the first half, chose to shoot wide instead of a simple 5yd pass to put Perez through on goal. In the second half stood still in the box watching the ball crossed in while his man ran in and scored.

Comment #19True, he does get lots of assists, mostly from corners/free kicks. It’s the always looking to shoot thing that winds me up the most. If he was banned from shooting and was forced to look for passes in those ‘shooting’ positions he could have had a bunch of propper assists too.

Comment #20Nothing against Ritchie at all but West Ham game second half, he stopped tracking his runners and manquillo exposed a few times (not that he needs help with this lol) with one occassion leading to a goal line clearance almost making it 1-1.
Only remember this as it shows the high levels he has that you can remember a period of 45 mins where he didn’t do his job defensively.

Comment #25Glad I stayed away for the comments, cracking comeback and thank God for set pieces. Shame joselu didn’t score but who’s surprised?
Took long enough to make changes as well, but a massove point and stops the rot. Not sure if anyone went to the match but we looked better with Aaron’s and Mitro from what I could tell from the tv.

Comment #26A world class manager learns from mistakes, doesn’t keep making the same stubborn mistake in every game. I read every possible excuse to justify why joselu is starting and why Mitro isn’t. None more so than Jimmy who comes out with a new one in almost every game.
Bottom line is we look better as a team with Mitro and the longer we carry on with joselu and Perez the only time we will score is from a set piece. I’m not happy with the favouritism for arguably a worse striker than riviere.

Don’t rise to the bait….. You’ve no need to justify yourself as far as most on here are concerned. Your critics just don’t see that things don’t always go to plan – especially when dealing with Ashley.

Comment #35OT, it’s the same one every time. The most obvious one. Rafa doesn’t believe Mitro can be relied upon to lead the defensive press from the outset. It’s all about defensive shape. I have been using a variety of ways to express this single point. That must be what has been confusing you.

Comment #36I will add a couple more possible reasons though. A general lack of discipline and maturity, characterised by that disgraceful elbow to Lanzini’s head, for which he was rightly suspended, and yet appallingly maintained there was nothing in it. Also, the side is young as it is, and needs stable balanced heads out there, and Mitro clearly doesn’t have one. He sorts these things out, then I’m sure he’ll immediately find himself ahead of Joselu and Gayle in the pecking order.
