Kevin Gameiro was Newcastle’s number one striker target back in the summer of 2011 when he was still at Lorient, and it was even reported at that time we had a £10M offer for him rejected early that summer.
Kevin moved to PSG but didn’t have a successful time of it there, and he is now playing well for Athletico Madrid whom he joined last year from Sevilla.
We go through that history of Newcastle’s involvement with Gameiro because we have again been linked with the striker according to a report in Spain.
A report from donbalon.com has revealed that Newcastle want to sign the 30-year-old striker who has 13 caps for France.
Kevin Gameiro – former striker target
Apparently, the news is that Atletico are willing to let their striker go and maybe he can be brought in during the January transfer window.
The best deal for both parties could be a loan deal in January through the end of the season with an option to buy in the summer, but it would be good news if Kevin is available in January.
Newcastle need some strikers who can put the ball in the back of the net.
Kevin has scored 20 goals with 8 assists in 56 total games for Atletico.
This season he has 4 goals and one assist in 10 games.
