Rafa Promises Defensive Improvements – Says Antonio Conte Is Doing Well

Rafa Benitez has just completed his press conference for the game at Chelsea tomorrow – a game which looks to be a very challenging game for us – to say the least.

One of the weaknesses of the Newcastle side in the last three game has been our defensive play, and in three games we have conceded 9 goals, and in the first 11 games, we conceded only 10 goals.

We hope we can hold the Blues tomorrow afternoon at Stamford Bridge, but with the Blues in form, it could be difficult.

Rafa Benitez – we will improve the defense over time

This is some of what Rafa has said in his press conference this afternoon:

“At West Brom, we showed character and a good reaction. There were a lot of positives.”

“Chelsea will be there at the top of the table, but hopefully, we can do something there and get some points.”

“I was really pleased with all the players who were involved the other day because they were doing their best.”

“Rob Elliot has been training well. The competition is crucial for us.”

“The team will improve defensively, but they will need time.” “The only way is to work harder and better.”

“I think Conte is doing well. Last season they had one competition, with Europe he has to manage the squad in a different way.”

This game has early kickoff at 12:30 pm (not 5:30 pm as I had earlier – I keep getting mixed up between the times over here in the US and those in the UK).

More than three Newcastle fans in five think we will lose this game tomorrow.

Haha cheers Jail! The moniker comes from a Captain Beefheart track I listened to quite a bit during my college days.

Unfortunately for Joselu when a new striker arrives I think he will become a target for the fans ire. Look at the abuse Shola got and he’s one of us. I bet there’s not many people who wouldn’t have a 27 year old Shola in the team ahead of our misfiring Spaniard.
