It was a shock when Karl Darlow was recalled to the starting eleven last Tuesday night to play at West Brom.
Rob Elliot had been playing quite well this season, but in the last two or three games, Rob didn’t look as sharp as he had been – but there again he was also exposed by our defense.
We can only assume Karl was looking good in training and much like last year he has been brought into the first team while not starting the season as our number one goalkeeper.
Karl has played well in the last two games, and he is our Man of the Match for yesterday.
The lads gave everything they had in the game but went down 3-1 against the Premier League Champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Karl Darlow – no chance with Chelsea’s second goal scored by Morata
Karl can stay in the first team much like he did last season if he keeps playing well for us.
But we think Rafa will soon want a new number one goalkeeper brought in either in January or this summer.
And perhaps that will be Real Madrid’s Kiko Casilla who Rafa bought while he was manager ar Real back in 2015.
Comment welcome.

money is only effective if your paying for the likes of hazzard Ronaldo messi Suarez, these types of player are just quality.
but i can guarantee 99% of all players in the premiership are massively overpriced to what they offer ability wise.
50 million for sigurdsson, really

Tough assignment yesterday, I thought the team stuck it out, worked hard but made some costly errors, under pressure, against a well established team of far superior opposition players, in all honesty.
Rafa is searching for a combination and tactics to try and get enough points for survival. That, remember, was the objective at the start!
I am truly embarrassed by the comments during and after the game. Have a go at me for saying that, I couldn’t give a monkeys.
The team and manager need the backing of fans through thick and thin. That’s your job.
All I read is pathetic, repetitive and insulting language being used against own players,FFS. Its not the analysis /critique people say it is. Just about every player described at one point yesterday as utter sh$t, crap, useless …’Ahaha’ etc. Stupid childish ‘play on words’ nick names… The stuff you would hear in junior school playgrounds.
I am much more sick of the crap spouted on here than by what the manager and players are trying to do in a tough tough league we have managed to get back into.
Its fine to have an opinion, but get a grip and stay behind the team.

Comment #6How much did Man City cost when they were bought out by the UAE people.
I’ve heard 165 million mentioned. Some say 200 million.
How much would you pay for NUFC if you were worth 10 billion.
Present owner does not want it and won’t invest.
Not a big line of potential buyers waving their cheque books.
As a buyer what would your strategy be.
I’d wait until we were deep in the brown stuff come the end of the year.
Then I would offer no more than 185 million.

palace paid 25 million + for sakho, his value in would have him walk straight into our team, yet i rate Lascelles miles above him, and i think Lascelles is our 4th best CB. actually, i put him 3rd, Lejeune is now 4th

Comment #12How can anyone vote RITCHIE in this game? He cost us the game! The 2-1 goal he headed the ball straight to Moses, who then assisted the Morata goal. Poor effort..
And at the penalty, there was no need for the sliding tackle.
RITCHIE cost us two goals!! Man of the match? Are you f…. blind?

yes,, and by some way too..
but many on here point to the fact that Rafa dosnt pick Mbemba, bla bla bla
Clark was the pick of of the defenders between him and lascelles by the fans last year, and everything about Mbembas game is head and shoulders above Lascelles, he reads the game better, he can bring the ball out from the back, i think he is stronger in the air.
Lascelles is more vocal, and thats it

Comment #16Anyone know if Dummet, lascelles and Atsugi will be available for the Leicester game?
If so I would play Dummet Lascelles, Clark and Mbemba along the back, Jonjo and Hayden in the middle with Merino in front as the 10 Atsu on the left and Murphy on the right withGayle up front, I think that would give us a balance, give Ritchie a much needed rest after some indifferent performances and still have enough attacking threat to cause them problems.
Vardy is an issue so we must be wary of the counter but having more defensive fullbacks will (hopefully ) restrict his speed as there will be no room in behind to run into.
We have missed Dummet ,Atsu and Lascelles and when your missing 2 of your best defenders you concede goals, while they may not be our best players in defence, they are better at defending and the sooner they are available the better for me.

is Ritchie a LB, did he ask to be played there? what support did he have in front of him?
his defensive field in front of him was Perez or Murphy and Diame,, great choice

Comment #25Rafa is using squad and got it wrong with Ritchie on left . Was always going to be difficult but we did shoot ourselves in foot defensively. 7 games to come by 1 January so more roatation and we need to pick up points starting with 2 home (difficult but aren’t they all) games next. Needs to get his selections and tactics spot on.

yes we can point to the fact that rafa doesnt pick mbemba why is that
i will agree mbema is good with reading the game some of his inteceptions are great and pretty good with the ball there is a big but there and thats why rafa wont pick him
laschelles knits our defence together he has far better concentration levels than the rest of our defenders and drags them along its the package that laschelles brings that makes him better
look at the goals we have conceeded since he has been out

should i say that we are expecting a phantom bit any day now,, this is original , its from India oooh thats differrent.
and i hear that when these Indians do buy the club, there buying this wonder kid from Somalia that is going to be worth 200 million. thats original too.
and to be fair, i know no matter what i say, people like yourself never listen because your are far superior to me in every possible way.
but like i have always said, there is a bunch of happy clappers that call themselves fans, but all the do is bunch together and bully, disregard everything that is not going along with their narrative. nothing in life ever changes with these type of people, the world would still be in the stone ages if we thought like the like of you.. and the very sad part is, its people like you that end up being in charge of people and ruining lives..
