Ayoze Perez has started the last two games, and in difficult games away from home, he seems to be brought in to do the vast amount of work he covers in every game.
But he still has just one goal for Newcastle this season, and the Spaniard needs to start scoring more goals.
In fact, that’s true of our other strikers up front – we have just 14 goals in our 15 games so far, and that’s not good enough.
Dwight Gayle is coming into some form and he could yet be a hero for us this season if he can start scoring those goals for us.
Dwight scored a nice opportunist goal on Saturday that put us 1-0 up in the 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge.
The fact we have started to leak goals with mistakes at the back in the last several games has caused our current mini-demise.
We are currently in 15th place on 15 points but still 5 points above West Ham in 3rd bottom place.
But we have dropped 3 places over the last round of games over the weekend.
Ayoze Perez – in action at Stamford Bridge
The Hammers did well at Manchester City yesterday losing 2-1 with a late City goal.
This is what secondary striker Ayoze Perez has said as reported in the Shields Gazette today:
“We have to get a win now,”
“We started the season pretty well, and that’s helped us with our league position, but we have gone too long without winning a game, and we have to put that right.”
“We are at home for our next match, and we have to make the most of that and get three points.”
“We can’t keep saying we’re still OK in the table. This is the moment to start turning things around and get back to having the winning feeling again.”
“We need to get back to picking up points. It doesn’t really matter how we are playing – that’s the most important thing.”
“It has to start from now. “We have two home games coming up, and we have to make the most of them. We need the points, and we have to win.”
If we can pick up two wins in our next two home games things will look a lot better – even 4 points would be excellent.
But if we cannot do that then the situation will become difficult, and we could drop down the league table even further.
Two wins is what Rafa will be going for.

Comment #1There will be NO sale
Ashley will get us relegated say third bottom take the TV money which will be over 100 million – approx 125 million for finishing 3rd bottom.
Sells the club for 225 million say taking the 125 million – making 350 million
Which would be £50 million more than he is going to get at the minute –
Even if he sells for £200 million he will make more than the £300 million
– Gamble but the man is a gambler

If someone doesn’t want to buy a Premier league club for £350m I can’t see anyone buying a championship club for £225m. Makes no sense at all.

I give this place a miss most match days and sometimes a couple days after if it’s been a loss, all the lunatics turn out in force.

He would be lucky to get 100 million when we are in the championship, never mind 225 million

With respect your figures don’t add up. If relegated, the club is worth 50 to 75 million. Ashley has to keep it in the Premier League to be able to sell it. When they originally announced the club was for sale they did say if not sold by January, then funds would be made available for team strengthening.
A deal will happen! Ashley wants out and he normally gets what he wants!
