Jamaal Lascelles had been interviewed by nufcTV, and it looks like he could be fit for the game at home to Leicester on Saturday.
If Jamaal is able to play it would definitely strengthen the Newcastle defense since we have missed him a lot over the last several games when he has been out with his ankle injury.
Jamaal was speaking to fans last night at Nine Bar, and he even seemed upbeat that he could be fit for the extremely important game on Saturday.
A win in that game against The Foxes would lift the spirits and calm the nerves of Newcastle fans worried (again) about relegation.
Jamaal Lascelles – training and hoping to make it for Saturday
Here’s what Jamaal said on nufcTV:
“I trained a bit today and that gave me a good indicator of how my foot is holding up.”
“I will be training again tomorrow and I’ll see how I get on.”
“I have said before that it is hard to watch – especially when the team isn’t doing great.”
“I am going to try my best to get fit as soon as possible and fingers crossed it is Saturday.”
We started the season playing very well on defense and in our first 11 games, we conceded only 10 goals – a good record and less than one goal conceded per game.
But in the last four games, we have conceded 12 goals – a terrible average of 3 per game compared to less than one per game in the first 11 games.
🙁
Leicester City are in good form under their new French manager Claude Puel and they beat Burnley 1-0 on Saturday – another Premier League team in form at the moment.
Unfortunately, we seem to be meeting teams in form with our game next Wednesday at Everton – who have won their last two games under new manager Sam Allardyce.
But maybe that’s just an excuse?
Yeah – sounds like it.
We need to start helping ourselves and start to play a lot better as a team and especially in defense.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41The other obvious sticking point for me is the tax evasion situation. What is the club’s liability here? Is it tens of millions of pounds or millions of pounds or what is it? If there has been no evasion we will still have a hefty bill if it comes to court proceedings. At least that’s how it works in Canada. Could the club argue that Lee Charnley did the dirty on his own? As I see it another anchor around Ashley’s neck keeping the valuation down.

I think Lascelles has been very clearly and obviously missed. the goal conceded against bournemouth being a good example, plus he has won vital games with a couple of goals. Lascelles was never going to get a good rap from catchy because god forbid rafa made him captain.
catchy likes Trump. says it all really.

Comment #44If talks break down and we play through the rest of the season under Ashley the pressure on Rafa to keep us up will be huge. Oh and Ashley should feel it as well as his valuations will all vanish like a puff of smoke if we get relegated. This point has been brought up repeatedly but so has the point that Ashley loves to gamble. How would any businessman want to gamble with a 250-300M pound asset that could drop in value by more than 200M pounds in a few months? Madness but I’m getting used to it with this buffoon.

There’s apparently 15 PL clubs in hot water with HMRC. I wouldn’t be surprised if all clubs are hit with some kind of fine or clean your act up message.

Comment #47Well said Rotonda with all your comments above. No comments necessary about Trump but I’ll make a few anyway. He is a disaster who should already be in prison. The American justice system (so-called) is completely corrupt. Trump has bought himself and his daughter and son-in-law out of jail time. Trump University was a scam. His daughter lied about sales of condo units in one of their New York properties to pump up sales and prices. This was proved in New York state court and then dropped under mysterious circumstances. Trump paid off numerous litigants in the Trump University trial and once paid they had to sign a gag order so they couldn’t talk about the massive fraud he had committed.

Comment #49Beermonkey there have been no clear statements attributed directly to Ashley saying he will spend in January that I can find. There was an old speculative article in the Chronicle back in September saying he had indicated he would spend massively in the new year (80M was the number touted) but no other outlet actually confirmed this. In other words it was bollocks.

Comment #52I think we should wait and see about the final verdict in the tax situation Our Toon. At the time it seemed like a lot of the HM Revenue action was focused on us and West Ham wasn’t it? Charnley was actually arrested. That to me indicates we are in a dicey situation there. He was released but there may have been terms to that release that we don’t know about.

Comment #54Statement from Mike Ashley’s lawyer Andrew Henderson
when interest in NUFC was first announced
16th October Monday: “Assuming the right person can be found to take the club forward it’ll be about how payments are structured, how much would be payable on day one and how much would be payable further down the line.”
“There is a real genuine desire from our point of view to put the club in the best possible position going forward.”
“If that means additional funds being available in the short-term we would seek to accommodate that.”

Comment #56Thanks Jib. That’s very vague indeed. And if the talks break down? I can’t see a situation where no money is spent in January by one party or the other because we are in huge danger but you never really know with Ashley and no actual numbers are mentioned there. And if we get something like 3-5 points from the remaining December matches? The pressure just continues to rise. Interesting times but very difficult to get through. I went through last summer the same way thinking “surely Ashley is going to spend. This squad is very thin indeed. What is going on?” Will January be the same?

Comment #60Like i have said many times ,
2 choices. Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.
Trump is definitely no Angel ? and like many wealthy people, made a lot of money ripping people off. no questions, i concede this.
But on the other hand we have a genuine crime family in the clintons with bill being more guilty than Trump with women. but the election was about Hillary.
Her actions in Libya killed 4 soldiers and one embassy person.
she set up an illegal server in her home, and when she was asked to return all of the emails on there she bleach bited the whole thing.
this whole probe into russian hacking was all because a man called seth rich was upset that they his candidate Bernie had been pushed out illegally so he gave emails to Wilileaks, then was murdered for his trouble.
and worst of all her campaign was run by a pedophile, john podesta and this is the thing that gets me the most, she is surrounded by pedos whether it be jeffery epstein, of which she visited his private island 7 times and bill 23 times, which is the same island that price Andrew was accused of under age sex, laura silsby, caught smuggling 33 kids out of Haiti to which the clintons got her released from prosecution there.
this john podesta who worked for bill and obama as chief of staff is also strangely linked to Maddie mccann, the police at that time released an drawn sketch of 2 men who look very much like them, these 2 were also very good friends with clement freud who just so happens to have his house 300 meters away from her disappearance.
read john podesta emails, check out his art collection, pedo porn.
and i would hope that others would hope these people were locked up and out of power too.

Comment #61I hope you’re not right Mr. pingles mate. That would be a final suicide dive for us in the second half. Only a top striker will help us enough now, and I would go for a very good AMF as well. So 40-50M? If not Ashley should prepare for what happens if we get relegated again.

Comment #64I have a date in mind that might be important. It’s December 15th, or a week on Friday. I think this might be so for a number of reasons. First, if we go beyond that with no announced deal then no takeover will be formally concluded before the middle of January which would require Ashley to act with money as he has stated in the lawyer comments that Jib showed. The remaining two weeks after the 15th of January is just insufficient time for new owners. First of all I would think Chamless would be long gone. They would sack him immediately but then a new MD has to step in, assess the situation with Rafa and get to work. Anyway I could easily be wrong but I’m going to pay attention on December 15th.

Comment #66Catchy posts his considered evaluations on all things Rafa Benitez, with in depth statistical analysis to back up how he is failing.
But he doesn’t use those powers in such statements as:-
” Lascelles is one very over rated Defender. AND again IMO most people only rate him because Rafa made him captain.
Mbemba 1
Clark 2
lascelles asn lejeune are much of the same for me.”
Why not apply that incisive observation and statistical prowess to the subject of our form with and without lascelles ? You had to wait until he was out injured before coming out with your complaints about him because he had the unfortunate habit of shutting your stupid yabber up week in week out with match winning performances. Couple that with your insufferably peurile political diatribes and all in all you’re a bit of a plunger really.

Comment #69Once we pass the Crimbo threshold I would think no deal would be done until next summer which may be too late to save us. Then Rafa would almost certainly leave (especially if there was no decent support in January). Decent support might save us if we get the right player(s) in. We don’t know what other bottom clubs will spend either. A huge period of uncertainty that we are struggling through. Let’s hope the news gets a lot better.

Comment #75OP and Rotunda I think, yeah sorry 1 point in 18, not 6 losses in a row. Not exaggerating honest haha, just an oversight. The point I was trying to make about Ashley is more that he tends to under spend, often in the summer, knowing he’s still got the January window, if he needs it. Not saying it’s good obviously, but just that it’s what he often does, and that’s what you’d fully expect this time after taking 1 point from the last 6 matches, and with the club up for sale and our epl place uppermost now in importance. We all want him out, but he won’t let the club go easily.

Comment #80That spending if it happens by Ashley would be added to the price though. It’s a vicious circle of disasters. What a way to run a club. Wait until the last minute to strengthen the club to survive relegation, then insist that you can’t afford anything more in summer because you spent in January. So then the club quickly deteriorates again (especially if you sell off some of the better players as Ashley has repeatedly done) and you’re right back where you started.
