Sir Alex Ferguson has welcomed six managers who have longevity in their careers and have managed more than 1000 games into the LMA 1000 Club.
Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez is one of those managers.
The six managers are Rafa Benitez, Carlo Ancelotti, Tony Pulis, Claudio Ranieri, John Toshack and Sven-Goran Eriksson.
They have joined a group of 24 managers who include Brian Clough, Sir Matt Busby, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

This is what Alex Ferguson had to say about the achievement:
“To achieve 1000 games is very good and you have got to admire them because I’m sure at points in their career they’ve had to face that pressure,” said Ferguson.
“The great quality they have is the resilience that experience gives them to have lasted the distance of 1000 games.
“It takes a lot of perseverance and sacrifice, not just from them but from their families because it goes it back into the families.”
“You don’t survive if you don’t win, that’s for sure.”
Rafa has managed 1043 games in his career with a win percentage of 50.9% and has won three European trophies with three different clubs.
That will be four when he finally gets Newcastle United winning a European trophy – though not in my lifetime.
His record at Newcastle is played 79 – won 40, drawn 16 and lost 23 with a win percentage of 50.6%.
Newcastle are in a big slump at the moment and have lost five of the last six games – hopefully, that will change tomorrow and we can get a win against Leicester City at home.
