Dwight Gayle made the opener for Joselu for the Spaniard’s third goal of the season, and Dwight equalized in the second half to set us up for a point that we didn’t take and ended up losing again.
That was Dwight’s third Premier League goal, and he’s coming into some good form at a crucial time of the season for Newcastle.
Dwight got 63% of the vote for his assist and goal yesterday.
There are reports he will be sold in January but why sell a player who can score goals when we are so short of natural goalscorers in the team?
Second in the voting is 21-year-old Mikel Merino (10%) who is slowly getting back into the form he showed before his back injury.
Dwight Gayle – one goal and one assist
Third in the voting is 22-year-old Jacob Murphy (8%) who started the game brightly but then tailed off before being subbed in the second half.
But Jacob has shown he can become a good player at Newcastle once he gets more games under his belt.
Next up for Newcastle is an in-form Everton side who have been buoyed by the experienced Sam Allardyce coming in as manager.
We must try to get a win on Wednesday night at St. James’ Park.
Why Jonjo Shelvey is not being played these days is a little bit of a mystery – maybe he will get a chance on Wednesday night against the Toffees.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Every and I mean every Premier league club will be so envious of that fantastic display of support before and during the match. What a shame the owner can’t show support to the fantastic Toon army and manager.

Comment #2Is that it c-dog? I hope Rafa plays Joselu every game if it torments you that much. I’m not going to stoop to your guttural level though, I’ll let your foul mouthed stupidity speak volumes for you. Carry on if you like I’ve never been worried by bairns calling from the schoolyard, it is what it is, the desperate struggle of a compromised intellect with nothing important to say.

Comment #4Everything at NUFC is a mystery.
Rafa is so bad it has to be deliberate.
Either to force a sacking or to force a sale.
It cannot just be rank bad incompetence. He is on a par with brollyman and thats a mystery.

Comment #5@shitstains, great to see you wanna see your club continue to play a sub standard player who is contributing to their struggles just so some guy on a blog you don’t know has to watch him. Just apologize to me, stop being passive aggressive to other blog users and I’ll stop dampening your afternoons? And for god sake man, scrub them damn britches.

Comment #6Cannot wait for Guardiola to give Man Utd a lesson today.
‘Asked what would happen if his passing football no longer produced results, Guardiola was unequivocal.’
“If that is going to happen, I’m going to retire,’ he said. ‘Because I don’t feel it another way. I could defend more deep but I want to have the ball and I want to play.”

Comment #7Just heard an interesting fact on 5 live. “The Manchester derby will be watched by 1 billion people in 183 countries.” And the PL is only going to get bigger. We couldn’t be shedding Ashley at a more crucial time.

Comment #8Everton have not had a kick. 80 per cent Liverpool possession. Watch the game on Wednesday when the toffees play our muppets. We will make them look worldbeaters. I think Big Sam might have a point to prove. At least he can keep you in a league. We have got rid of much better players and continually buy inferior ones and thats not down to Ashley. Frase Forster anybody?? Krul . But we are now looking for a goalie. Pathetic. Its the same all over the pitch.

Comment #9Tbf Rafa’s team selections are a bit of a mystery and subs often far too late.
Our strategy seems be not to lose rather than win.
But we all know we need big money investment in the team. Unfortunately our confidence has taken a knock off late.

Comment #10I never watched or seen highlights of the game yesterday but listened to a bit on bbcradio the toon, am I right to assume not forgetting we got beat but is Gayle and hoseluu a good match? Seems like a positive if we can get defense sorted out and lascelles back now.

sorry mate
Steve Mcclaren never signed any of those players Graham Carr did ,
One of Mcclaren’s biggest grips was he never got the players he wanted he got what he was given

We were probably wrong yesterday not to have shut up shop at 2-2 with minutes left in the game instead of thinking we could win it.

Comment #18Do people really think Ginola was better than Robert? I know Ginola was a class player for us, butt Robert was instrumental. The goals he scored were incredible. Definitely the best player we’ve ever had at the club.

Comment #27Lascelles will be back in for the Everton game, I’m pretty sure Shelvey will start along side a fitter Merino and I’m thinking Atsu will also start, keep the faith we won’t go down this season. We’re on a bad run, one win one bit of luck and we’ll bounce back. I’d say at a minimum we’ll need 5 or 6 more wins and 5 – 7 draws from 23 games….very much achievable

Comment #29Haven’t posted on this blog this season. But it’s really looking bleak, isn’t it? By far the weakest NUFC-squad I’ve seen in the PL. Last summer was a missed chance, with more money spent and Rafa behind the steering wheel, we would at least have had a side that could have sat comfortably in mid-table.
Now every match is trying to scrape some greatness out of a team that just can’t perform on this level. Last season in the championship was a lot of marginal wins, where the team honestly didn’t play very well. I said before the season that betting on the same team in the PL is a recipe for disaster.
At least we won’t have to deal with disillusionate fools this season saying our squad is on par with the top teams – and that we’re too good to get relegated.
By the end of December, a team that from the start is weak will be even weaker and stretched. So action in January needs to happen, or else…
Giving Aarons or Mitro a chance won’t solely help, even though I feel they could make a mild positive impact.
I really wish my post could be more positive, but it’s hard taking any positives as it stands now.

Comment #30Tony Green was definitely the most attacking midfielder and best midfielder at Toon in last 50 years. I would find a place for him in all time team (although its basically from the 50s). All time greats has to include Hughie Gallagher. The only criticism of green and maybe why others do not include him is the fact that his reign was short due to injury and he did not score enough goals. A sort of Beardsley type player but better.

Comment #33Lauren Robert is not in the same division as Ginola. Robert had twenty shots and most hit the corner flag. One flew in the net. Do not think Messi would be very welcoming of him kicking the ball away 90 per cent of the time on edge of opponents box into the stands. Check his goals to game ratio. Not clever. Ginola was world class at his peak. Robert was not even class. Just decent. Run head down and a hard shot.

Comment #35Look it’s time to get behind the manager not cracking his neck because Ashley is busy selling the club out.
One or two results and less of the horrible breaks and we will pull away from this mess. Think of it as getting the bad stuff out of the way 🙂
There will come a time, hopefully soon, when Ashley will be a closed chapter, the team building will start in shackled, and we will be glad we hung on to the only guy genuinely interested in eating this club to achieve something. Joining Ashley’s propaganda wagon against him will ensure no credible manager will ever touch us with that bargepole people refer to a lot.

Comment #40Jimiley I’ve got nothing against you but you are seriously lacking insight or you’ve got the wrong guy when you assess Robert as not bring of my class. Maddeningly inconsistent yes but on his day and there were a few, a truly talented individual and his goal feel is damn impressive. I watched him only yards away from the touchline once skinning three players in one move and leaving them comically stranded, he spent that entire game tormenting that wing with ease. Two goals of the month in one game with two of the hardest long range shots you’ll see in a long time. He would be head and shoulders in a different category to every single man in this current squad.
I can only give you leeway for mistaken identity, otherwise you are indeed a complete loon 😀
