Rafa Will Sell Mitrovic To Bring New Players In – A Swap Deal May Be In Place

There’s news from Italy – Tuttosport – who are reporting that Newcastle could offer Aleksandar Mitrovic to Torino to get 25-year-old defensive midfielder Afriyie Acquah to the club.

We were linked during the summer with Acquah, but it seems Rafa’s lack of transfer funds stopped him from bringing in the midfielder; he seems one that Rafa wanted to sign but couldn’t through lack of funds.

In fact, Acquah was shown on video in the summer saying he wanted to sign for Newcastle United, so it seems he is keen to come to Newcastle and play in the Premier League.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has a career at Newcastle that seems to be coming to an end, and Rafa will try to sell him in January or use him in a part exchange to bring in some new players.

And with Newcastle in a terrible run of form and results at the moment, it could be that Rafa wants to bring a number of players in during January – maybe as many as five?

Afriyie Acquah – a target last summer

We are hoping after the transfer meeting today with Lee Charnley that Rafa will get sufficient funds to spend in January, with the rumor that Amanda Staveley wants to give £30M to Rafa in transfer funds.

That could be done by PCP Captial Partners loaning Newcastle £30M to spend next month – although where the money is actually coming from is still debatable.

The easiest solution is to get Ashley to release £30M from Newcastle’s coffers.

We are hoping after the meeting today that Lee Charnley and his team get busy and go after the targets that Rafa has identified.

Acquah signed for Torino from 1899 Hoffenheim two years ago and has made 10 appearances for them this season, but he wants to get more playing time.

And since he signed for Torino he has made 63 appearances with 5 goals and 5 assists.

Rafa seems to rate this player highly.

We need a player to put the ball in the back of the net

I am not sure the side can really afford to have Shelvey sitting in the dog house for the next few months. He is a risk, but all hands are needed on deck right now. It’s only a 1 game suspension and against Arsenal, a game with the odds heavily against the side, so realistically, Shelvey isn’t really missing any amount of winnable football games. Shelvey may not have played in the game anyway, I would have expected Hayden to face his old club.

Even Davie Provan (who seems to dislike NUFC)
in his commentary said it was a tackle Shelvey had
to go for and it was a hairsbreadth of mistiming
    that got him the yellow.

Rafa said as much when asked about it.

I think a ref less fussy and more on the ball than
Martin Atkinson might have used a bit more common
sense and held his back realising it would be a 2nd yellow

Our current form is frighteningly bad and the transfer window can’t come quick enough, question is how many can we afford

Toontaff, from previous, you will not see me calling people idiots over their political views. I cannot however speak for anybody else. Btw, Corbyn is a democratic socialist, not a marxist.

    Posada,

Do save us the faux outrage! You’re just not very good at this mickey taking and banter lark so leave it to others and betters pet, otherwise it will keep coming back to bite you, as with respect you don’t come across as the swiftest and I don’t like taking on an unarmed man in a battle of wits.

You’re the very epitome of hypocrisy, calling me retarded and a psychiatrist. No matter how much of a – – – – you come across as being, I wouldn’t show such ignorance and stoop that low. If you’re going to keep trying your best to insult me, albeit with all the wit of a schoolboy, don’t then play the ”victim” card and being so precious.

Mitro, Mbemba, Colback, Saivet and Darlow will probably need selling, to allow for new players. Add Shelvey and Gayle, with Diame thrown in for free 💡

2 game ban for Shelvey? Oh well, it is a little worse than expected. Really could have done with Shelvey against West Ham. I remember Shelvey carving open West Ham 2 seasons ago.

We already had our suspicions that players such as Mitro are not getting game time to protect them from injury before being sold on. Five minutes here and there at the end of a game is minimal risk. We might not have too many injuries but our squad is effectively depleted by the number of players not being used due to their shelf life before transfer whereas many teams we are playing are drawing on near full squad compliments of committed players who want game time and put shifts in.

Either from Ashley himself or a loan from PCP until the deal is done, personally I couldn’t care less as we are that desperate I’d organise a whip-round in the town centre to help solve this current run

Shelvey is missing, the Christmas period will be tough with a squad of 22 pick from. Colback, Mitro and mbemba might as well not be here so that limits us further.

Hopefully dummett is back for the arsenal game

    Shelvey’s got found out.
He just doesn’t seem fit enough or mobile enough to be the midfield enforcer that we need at this level.
Lying deep, going back to pick up the ball and then trying to ping long passes from deep just plays into the hands of the opposition who can with the odd exception of a long distance pass deal with what he provides.
We need more forward momentum not reverse thinking.

Sorry mate my fault. I imagine it’s a figure that sounded about right to the press and they’ve run with it. Like everything else I doubt anyone knows a single thing and it’s only gonna get worse as the deal edges closer. Every single journalist is going to have a field day

I think this is Rafa’s attempt to sell Jonjo, I don’t think now Rafa can trust him after yet another red card. Maybe Rafa is thinking he could get a good sum for Jonjo and this will aid in the new players he wants to sign. This player would slot right into the Jonjo area and gives Merino his freedom to push forward a little. I feel Rafa maybe will sell Gayle too, his thinking maybe would be two strikers, two midfield, one defender but maybe two and a goal keeper. So either six or seven players but only if he can sell the ones he does not need anymore. And that’s a big list !!!

I’m feeling a deal has been done with Mitro as he wasn’t even on the bench last night. A swop for this midfielder enforcer from Italy I think likely!
Ashley has to strengthen as he stands to lose £200m if we go down !
