Takeover Latest – Two Parties Still Talking – Deal Must Be Done Quickly To Save Newcastle

After the positive news yesterday from Sky Sports that the offer of £300M from Amanda Staveley was close to being accepted by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley there is news today from the Telegraph that there’s still plenty of work to do.

The next step has to be that Mike Ashley accepts the offer and then with the general agreement in principle agreed to – there will be a period of exclusivity of about 30 days during which the deal can be completed.

So this tweet from Luke Edwards is accurate in that there is still work to do – further due diligence and getting the Premier League to approve the potential new owners of Newcastle.

But that was said to be possible to complete in about 30 days – but could be delayed by the upcoming Christmas holidays.

Mike Ashley – is he going to throw up?

The next piece of news has to be Ashley accepting the offer, and he’s said to be on business over here is the US at the moment.

Here’s Luke Edwards’ tweet.

That’s not good that Ashley is going on vacation unless somebody is in place to represent him so the deal can keep moving forward; he should also be reachable wherever he is on vacation.

We need the deal completed as soon as possible so Rafa can bring in some of the players he wanted to bring in last summer but couldn’t because Ashley withheld transfer funds.

Now, look at where we are through this particular demonstration of short-sightedness by the Newcastle owner.

It’s not good – in fact it’s starting to become a little alarming.

sorry jack that’s not what i meant

i was asking who’s decided it’s £30m not £10m or £50m it just seems to be a figure that’s pop out thin air other than a headline in The Mirror last week “rafa depends £30m transfer budget”

was just wondering had i missed something

We should know more tommorow as Rafa will have had to meet someone to discuss budget for January

There is No way Ashley will spend if the takeover isn’t happening or isn’t going to happen , so if Rafa is happy about his January budget we should assume that the take over will happen (that’s how I see it)

I think even Ashley realises he has to spend if he wants the club to have a chance of staying in the PL next season.

Think you’ve just got to think that way and just hope and pray.

I’m more worried about PCP walking away than Ash now.

Staveley will see our league position as a stick to bash Ash with and if he’s still being too greedy then R.I.P NUFC

Sorry mate my fault. I imagine it’s a figure that sounded about right to the press and they’ve run with it. Like everything else I doubt anyone knows a single thing and it’s only gonna get worse as the deal edges closer. Every single journalist is going to have a field day claiming to have all the inside information

    NUFC
Had a surplus of £36m in the 2015 accounts
They have kept cash in hand atthe £30m level
    for the last 2 years.
Rafa knew about it and thought he
    was getting it in Summer.
That amount at the least will be available
    in January.

    Keep watching Everton’s goal yesterday

Why don’t our GK coaches train our keepers to use their feet

De Gea would have kicked the ball to the byline after the initial gaff

If as seems likely the i’s haven’t been dotted by the time window opens who exactly is picking and driving the transfer deals even if buyer picks up the tab when takeover completed?

As Charnley will no doubt be history once takeover completed ( or at least moved back down the pecking order) what will his focus be? Will he care? If not him who else is in club now on the financial side to take over?

Gone are the days when manager met players and did the deals at a motorway service station so all Rafa can do is restress what he wants and leave it to the finance men.

A lot on here have no faith (rightly or wrongly) in Charnley being able to close big deals so what will January hold if we are still in a status quo situation( and no I don’t mean that 12 bar blues pop band)

Players I’d like to see bought in:

    Batshuayi on loan
    Capoue on loan
    Wilshire on loan
    Shaw on loan

    Sell Mitro, colback, Darlow, Shelvey

That should bring in at least 25m if not more. Then sign some players permanently.

We need a Cisse type signing that’ll hit the ground running in January

Reports are nonsense to be honest!

Who comes up with 30 million?

Now it’s all about the 300 million?

Deals done it’s just other things that need to be checked before fully confirming the deal to the press (keep tabs on Express)

Problem with the suggested sales ( as ever) is which clubs want them, at what price and wages and most importantly will the player go even if ostracised?

Our history is littered with players seeing out their not insubstantial contracts unless a transfer suited them, as is their right. Darlow and Colback were available in Summer but are still here and Shelvey likes club and may notr think he can get a potentially better one ( with takeover pending). Mitro is most likely but his lack of game time may affect his fee.

It’s not what I’ve heard but what I’ve experienced.

Papers and/or media are a bit slow and are looking for a story or trying to get grips to the fact no one is coming forward (probably meaning the new owners are powerful with powerful lawyer’s) which is a good thing.

I have no knowledge when it will happen mate. Shire Hibbit and Sparky have better insight into what is possibly going on.

I merely shared/teased with who I am led to believe who is being the takeover.

I got told old news yesterday that Stavely had initially offered £60 million a year for the next five years which was turned down by Ash

Sorry mate…..After yesterday and the press jumping on stuff and Rafas interview I was hoping to hear something today.

Whether big money is there or not, January is not a window favoured by bigger clubs unless struggling and is mainly the province of desperate buyers who are often fleeced.

My guess is unless a player who can suit us for several years can be enticed here we are looking at deals to simply keep us up no matter what funds are there. The rebuild of a longer term squad starts in summer. This probably means the PL equivalent of Daryl Murphy buys or loans.

Staying up is the only imperative.

Oh nice to see some welcome comments from Bobby for the first time in a while 🙂

If pcp are scared of relegation and have funding (surely 60 Million) would save us ??

    Decent centre forward 20 Million
    Number 10 (20 Million)
    Keeper on loan
Like shaw left back 20 Million

What happened to the Blog Moderator?

    Early Xmas holiday, perhaps…

There were some particularly vile and offensive comments posted here last night, notably from our star Norwegian contributor.

I am very sympathetic to anyone with dyslexia, I even supported him regarding an less than sympathetic criticism from Jib.

However Catchy can’t continue to use his condition to claim victim status.

This blog is surprisingly tollerrant to bad spelling, grammatical mistakes, and lack of punctuation, however Catchy’s offensive remarks go beyond normal banter.

Catchy, your postings are read by large group of readers, some of which are not supporters of NUFC, these are people to call us ‘delusional’, I would rather be called delusional than a racist bigot, please think before you post!

    ….and keep taking your medication…

I don’t want ings, he’s had 2 long term serious injuries and looks far from the good player he was at Burnley. Add to that he’s barely kicked a ball at Liverpool, he’s named on the bench but is 5th choice for them.

The risks with him are just far to great, a blowout on each knee, god knows what type of player he is now

I think Rafa will have players lined up for January, it just depends on the funds which standard of player we will afford.

It does all look likely that Stavely will be backing Rafa either by Ash ‘loaning’ us the money until takeover or Stavely will already be in post.

I can see a couple of very good loans with a view to catching the eye ‘re world cup

Rafa has already said he is talking to players.

    Keep the faith boys

Post aren’t moderated in the sense they have to pass a sentient human reading them but seem to work on the basis of a Word press dictionary of swear words and possibly links attached to posts catching some for checking before being allowed. As regards swearing those so inclined simply reverse letters, substitute 1 for i etc so that they can bypass the “censor”. Strange that they knowingly bypass Ed’s wishes??

So it is up to us to moderate ourselves – some can some can’t. There are some who spend their time looking for miscreants and pride themselves on doing so but often have a very restricted viewing position in their self appointed role so can come across as hypocrites of the first order to more the more enlightened readers.

But who will actually “do the deals” whilst we are in limbo?

What if Ashley releases money but deal falls through?

Not wanting to seem difficult but once again we are facing the most vital window of our history but this time we really are and we don’t want to have the opportunity missed by fudging of any kind.

Shelvey has to be running out of road with Rafa. He’s West Ham through and through, and they must be in the market for new players in January. Wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up there. I can’t stand Wilshire, but I’d bite your hand off if we had the chance to sign him now.

Can’t see us getting another point before we play Brighton at home, so we could well be rock bottom by then. That game, then Stoke, then Swansea will define our season. Hard to be optimistic.

loan deal in January why not ? we need to strength the squad one way or another and these 5 million josule type signings are just not good enough we need to get solid loan deals or pray some investment is round the corner, michael owen is still our record transfer deal we should of smashed that years ago, we’re just so far away from other teams and that has to change and will hopefully change if we can secure this takeover.

i doubt the goal keeper situation will be solved next month midfielder and striker is needed though, time will tell i guess
