Rafa Benitez and Lee Charnley had their well-publicized transfer meeting on Thursday and from what we can tell it went well with both men seemingly on the same wavelength.
This will be another crucial transfer window for Newcastle just as it was two years ago when we were also struggling with relegation.
Rafa should get up to £30M to spend in January, and he has worked with his recruitment team to identify targets for next month.
Rafa Benitez – when he first arrived on March 11th, 2016
If Rafa is not backed in the January transfer market, we will quickly become favorites to be relegated.
Here’s what Rafa has said about his meeting with Lee Charnley, who is currently the Managing Director at Newcastle:
“I have an idea,” “I express my idea, and Lee knows what I think.”
“We have to do the best for the team now, and what’s best for the team is best for the club, that’s it.”
“We have some names, we have quite a lot, but that’s normal because sometimes the clubs do not want to sell, or they do not want to come.”
“But now we have to start to see what we can afford because we need this, we need that. We need something, experience or something different, and we know that.
“We have to try to bring the best players possible for us now. That means if you have a player on loan, who is quite good, then we have to do it.”
“There are not too many options with Premier League experience, with the maximum level and right personality, so it is not easy, but you have to do your research everywhere.”

nothing as of yet about the owners. Don’t know the budget either and doubt we’ll ever know as clubs are keeping tabs on our situation

Comment #85Think we have no chance of getting Giroud. If he does leave Arsenal, though unlikely, he would probably go to everton.

Comment #87Gotta be fearless today – get into tackles pass the ball with confidence keep it simple and frustrate Arsenal as much as possible . There is no way we can out play them so we need to get stuck in to em and bring them down to our level.
If they get out of second gear we are in for a long afternoon again so here’s hoping for the best. Going for an optimistic draw 1-1

at some point reality will set in, we are on 15 points right now, and in our next 4 games we have 2 games we could target for points, and if we pick up points against the other 2 , bonus, BUT in the form we are in, its looking like we could go in to 2018 with 15 points..
not a great place to be. you say that its just me and manx, but i think you should should also think about the silent majority who dont share your optimism. against Everton 43% of the voters on Eds Poll thought we would lose the game, and that was after the false pick me up news after the game . before Rafa announced it, the poll was around 60% of the fans thought we would lose against Everton at home.
so just because we are and others vocal, it dosnt mean we are alone..
and no matter how much you try, yours and the others can only come back with in Rafa we trust,

I kind of suspected that but a great post anyway.
You could not make this up, again with flawed logic. Because Rafa is not used to losing we need to bring in a manager who is, Rafa having to pay the price for Ashleys gamble in the summer. Plain stupidity, 30M will have to be spent in January when it’s harder to get players. He could have spent in the summer and he’d have been in a far better position with PCP. If it wasn’t so tragic for us, Benitez and the club I think I’d be taking grim satisfaction at yet another mess he’s created.

im not, i think both did a great job with what they had, one had a little more experience than the other, in different departments, But what i will give CH huge credit on, and i think he is head an shoulders above rafa on, is his ability to use those troublesome players to his advantage, i think CH had a team full of Egos and he channelled it. its something SBR could also do.
by all accounts Rafa had one of the best players of his generation in Stevie G, and it seemed to be a treat them mean to keep them them keen thing going on when you listen to what he says about Rafa.
It looks like thats how he manages here too, better players dropped to give them a push, but question it, and your out of favour. at least thats how it looks to me based on evidence. and like i say he has form for it

Comment #117Based on what evidence though catchy, news reports and player interviews? Or historic reports from Gerrard?
There’s nothing to suggest to me that better players are being dropped on rafas whim.
To me he’s trying combinations trying to find a system that works based on the ragtag players at his disposal. Are we starting the mitro debate again?

Comment #118I said weeks ago that palace, Everton and West Ham have far too much quality to stay in the relegation fight at end of the season. We need to be looking at Brighton, Huddersfield, West Brom, Swansea, Bournemouth and possibly stoke.
