Newcastle have lost the last nine games against Arsenal so it would be something if we can take something out of this game today at the Emirates.
Newcastle have won only once in the last 21 games against Arsenal when we won 1-0 at the Emirates on 7th November 2010 with an Andy Carroll header just before the break.
Rafa Benitez has just announced his team for the tough test today, and there are quite a few changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Everton in midweek.
Isaac Hayden – gets a start against former club
Hayden and Merino will be in central midfield and they will have a difficult job today.
TEAM NEWS: Here’s how Newcastle United will line up at @Arsenal in the @premierleague this afternoon (kick-off 3pm GMT). #NUFC pic.twitter.com/8qwkNOpVz6
— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) December 16, 2017
Newcastle fans are not too confident of getting anything from the Emirates today with close to three in four fans expecting another defeat.
But what we need is a shock result so we can start coming back and climb the Premier League table.

Comment #10I cannot remember the last time Ritchie did not play. He leaves a big leadership vacuum in midfield. Very interested to see how the wingers get on.

Comment #11Hard to get excited for his today tbh…waiting to be pleasantly surprised.
Also we can remove Palace from our relegation rivals by the looks of it, Zaha has made the difference for them, would love to see us go for him if we get money to spend.

Comment #13Hope that the lascelles rant has woke up a few players and even if were are to get beat to put in a gutsy determined performance, tough tackles, blocks and strength…along with pace, stamina and above all else intelligence….to many times lack of intelligence has been our downfall….smarter, sharper, stronger… no matter what the result.

No Woodman, Sterry.
Will we be selling Colback/Saivet/Mitro/Mbemba.

He can say what he wants lmao.
He goes to the game but all he contributes is money for Ashley and no support for the team. He may aswell not go.

Comment #26Perez defends from the front and we need that against Arsenal. He also creates space for Merino to dish it out to the wingers who can hopefully swing it in to Joselu. He’s not there as a traditional number 10.

Comment #29Ritchie finally dropped/rested whichever way you want to look at it, though he had his best game in a while against Everton.
Glad to see Elliot back in ahead of Darlow and Dummett on the bench! Sorely missed his solid, dependable lockdown of that LB area.
Could be in the bottom three in a couple of hours.

Comment #30Also Perez falls down and throws his arms up really, really well. And he occupies space on the pitch. For what reason, I’m not sure.
