Newcastle Fans On Takeover Delay – Frustrated With Mike Ashley

When Mike Ashley said he wanted to sell the club quickly in October and have the deal completed before the end of the year – did any fans really think he would sell up quickly – given our experience of Mr. Ashley over the last 10 years?

The correct answer is no.

With Newcastle having lost 8 of the last 9 games it seems the club is burning while Mr. Ashley twiddles his thumbs on the potential takeover.

We could be in another relegation struggle (yes – another one) and it would be best if the ownership business is quickly sorted out.

If this drags on for the rest of the season it will make it extremely difficult for Rafa and the players to pull this season out of the fire.

Another relegation in May will be another terrible disaster for this club – it must not happen.

Mike Ashley – Newcastle owner

Mike Ashley is having a negative impact even as he says he wants to leave the club.

Here’s what some fans think about the delayed takeover and Mr. Ashley.

Sam is not exactly positive about a deal happening.

I have everything crossed that this deal will go through but i’ve now accepted until i see a yellow banner at the bottom of Sky Sports News i will take everything with a pinch of salt. We all knew that it wasn’t going to be a quick process, esp with Ashley involved as the seller. He’d be the type of person to sell a car but keep the tyres and looks like hes doing the same with the club.

The captain will be on soon asking where HIS tweet is.

    Previous thread.

Ed, if Amanda invested in January then waited until the summer to finalise the club sale then all is well and good but correct me if I’m wrong, you said she could still walk away. After investing? How does that work then?

January – “Here ya go fatman, here’s some dosh for players”

May – “Oh wait, you want more for the club, bye” we’ll just forget about that x amount I forwarded. Jesus h Christ.

The only time monies would be advanced is if everything was agreed now but was awaiting ratification from the prem/fa.

The return of Lascelles has steadied the ship, dare I say add Dummet and we shall be fine. This season was always going to be built on defensive solidity which is perfect ATM given how tight the table is. A couple of 1-0 wins before the end of the year and we can look forward to January.

Has someone dared to criticise Rafa on his signings. Tell me apart from Merino who has been premiership class.

    Catchy,
What bit don’t you get. Rafa persuaded a bunch of low level PL players and experienced Champo players to join us. He gave a detailed plan to Ashley on how to survive this season. Ashley didn’t listen. What is hard to understand about that.

Everyone’s popular choice on here was Ross Mcormack, he got his first big money contract and decided he didn’t want to play football anymore. Matt Ritchie could have played at Old Trafford and the Emirates, Rafa persuaded him to come here. Who did RDM get with a similar budget at Villa.

Everyone knows (apart from you apparently) that Rafa built a team to get promoted, which they did!
He was then denied funds in summer by Ashley who was planning to sell up. To blame Rafa for this fiasco is ridiculous!

Here’s the one thing we should hang on to: Any Non-Disclosure Agreement that was signed by parties entering into negotiations is only valid while the deal is being negotiated. If the deal fell through or one party pulled out, then the NDA no longer applies. At that point, there’d be leaks from at least one side of the deal – usually the side trying to buy as it’s a great bartering tool should they want to have another bite of the cherry when the public are clamouring for the deal to happen.

So the old adage is really true in this case – No news is good news.

I am also looking forward to seeing Dummett back in the starting 11. He will definitely strengthen us at the back. I dont think we will miss much going forwards either as Manquillo looks nervous. He is always cutting back and is not really willing to get on the overlap and put a decent ball in.

Moyes has been lucky so far but they’ve probably peaked at Stoke where they were very lucky! #neverapenalty

Also, I just wanted to say that years back I was told by someone very close to me that they were working on a deal for the sale of Man U to the Glazers. They are lawyers in that field, and told me months before the news broke. They also swore me to secrecy as no one knew about this. The point is, this took a long, long time before it was done and dusted even from the point I knew about it.

In this Social Media existence where we all want the latest news before it happens, it’s easy to forget that top-level business is carried out the same way it has been for generations – in a veil of secrecy protected by people who can’t afford for any news to get out lest someone else slips in and steals their deal.

It shows what dire straits the squad is in when people are blaming Rafa for not playing Colback and Saviet. Guaranteed if he did play one of them to drop Shelvey, Merino or Hayden it would be why is he leaving that talent on the bench. What is really passing everyone off is why he won’t play Mitro. I don’t know and can’t understand it either. But when it comes to the bigger picture I know which one I’d rather have at the club.

Catchy I posted this for the benefit of your crew but you were probably busy at the time negotiating a squall in the Kattegat –

I think it’s important to note that Benitez sees a threadbare squad in training day in day out. He knows their attitudes, their strengths and weaknesses, their ability to link with certain others, which combinations are useful and which are disastrous. He also spends his days studying the next opponents and trying to figure out which combo will nullify them.

And then he has the players nearing contract end and those under instruction to conserve for impending sale.

We have only fond and hazy memories of the odd decent performances and occasional bouts of wishful thinking that unused players are better or more suitable than they actually are.

Plus as far as i can tell, out of all concerned, only one is an accomplished, card carrying Champions League winning manager with a massive CV behind him and the respect of most of the professional footballing world.

I have to admit I was never a big Dummett fan but his absence has exposed us defensively down the left. With him and Lascelles back I think we should start getting some points. On the positive side, having just lost 8 of the last 9 games out of 18 played, we’re within 3 points of 12th and not even bottom club! #keepthefaith

    Tsunki,
Anita avoided being a hate figure but came close, Rafa was now mad not to offer him a three year deal.
This is just my opinion so that I’m not accused of making things up but I’m pretty sure Rafa thought Yedlin would be back up to a first choice RB and that maybe a quality LB could be found.

    Moonraker,
That sums up the squad, when a player like Dummet who most want to keep as a squad player is being missed as first choice. Says even more when the extremists are calling for Colback.

What game, if we lose the next 4 does Rafa`s unwanted record beats Carver`s record. So if this happens is Rafa considered the worst manager we have had?
I know I am going to get a slagging off now, but have broad shoulders!
After going to the match for nearly 50 years I have accepted sh*t numerous times but still think Rafa has to take some of the blame for our current situation.
