Report – Benitez After 24-Year-Old Italian International Central Midfielder

24-year-old Italian International Stefano Sturaro may be available in January and Newcastle have been heavily linked with the midfielder.

His agent is  Carlo Volpi, and he has been quoted in Tribal Football as saying there are Premier League clubs interested in his player with Newcastle United one of the clubs.

We were interested in the central midfielder in the summer, and Rafa Benitez certainly needs to bring some class into the team – either permanently or on loan next month – if we are to survive in the Premier League.

It was in November that Carlo Volpi said that both Everton and Newcastle were Premier League clubs interested in Sturaro, but since then Everton have brought in Sam Allardyce as manager, so it’s not clear if the Toffees are still interested.

Stefano Sturaro – 24-year-old Italian International

This is what Carlo Volpi told Tribal Football:

“Juventus have a team strong enough to be highly competitive for Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League.”

“Stefano has already played both in CL and in Serie A this year and he wants to train even harder in order to be ready when his moment comes.”

“Juventus also have such midfielders as Matuidi, Marchisio and Khedira: they all are around 30 years old and incredibly talented and charismatic.”

“There are clubs from the Premier League which made clear they are interested in Stefano, it would be unfair to name them but the news is coming out. January is imminent.”

“But there are many important games to play and Stefano is highly focused on his role in the team.”

Sturaro is still young at 24, and he could be an excellent buy for us in January – maybe even a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer?

What is clear that every player Rafa brings in during January has to have class and be able to go straight into the Newcastle side.

Class and creativity are what we need next month.

We hope Rafa is interested in the Italian International and of course he will be helped with his contacts in Italy after managing both Inter-Milan and Napoli.

It’s this kind of experienced and capable player we need to help Newcastle survive this season.

Sturaro signed for Juventus from Genoa in the summer of 2014 and has played 78 times for Juventus with 3 goals and 5 assists; he has 4 caps for Italy.

Don’t know much about him. But we need Attacking Midfielder not a normal one to make numbers. We need a player that can pick a pass and open up defenses with pace and skill.

On Ings normally I would think Ok why not ? BUT can we really be assessing targets on basis of he is a step up on Joselu.

We cannot afford to put a foot wrong in this window and we should stay clear of gambles unless there is further cover in that key position and deal includes returning player if he breaks down. If interest in Ings is genuine( what do press know) then hopefully Rafa has some inside info on his general and match fitness.

I appreciate that budget will determine our targets and likely purchases and loans but we need all of them to hit ground running as reaching 40 points is already growing more difficult as games pass

We seriously need a ST, CAM and LB. A winger would also help.

I would also love it if we could get Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham. At 18 years old he’s already better than all our LB options. One for the future no doubt. Sign him now or in the summer, v good player in the making.

The ME Royal families are a weird lot – what they do in public and in private are radically different google “Dubai Porta Potty” and you’ll see where I’m coming from. Let’s just say their parties are “interesting”. The governments of Abu Dhabi and Dubai own the booze shops here – so every £8 pint you buy goes into their pockets.

If only that disallowed goal against Bournemouth had stood confidence might have been restored and following results may have been different.

I know he’s s threat but he’s very inconsistent so hopefully he’ll have an off day!
However now we’ve got Lascelles and Merino back we should get at least a point off them which would help!

I actually followed Rafas Liverpool a lot as the way they were set up tactically was fascinating. And Torres(pre bad injuries) could get any fan off his seat with his brilliance. His good signings outweighed his bad ones by a massive margin. Not in numbers but in terms of combined quality vs combined lack of quality. When he got them right they were very right.

One thing I found strange though was his insistence on signing right fulls when he had Steve Finnan at his disposal. At that time arguably the best in the league. Josemi and Jan Kronkamp both came and were easily seen off by Finnan. The argument of competition for places was nonsense as the likes of Biscan or Plessis were Gerard’s only competition for a far more vital position. Or voronin for Torres.

Interesting how Arnautovic’s discipline problems don’t prevent his managers from picking him when available. Maybe he at least follows his gameplan instructions.

I agree with you from last thread, asking someone to leave the blog because they have strong opinions that don’t sit right with others is just pure bullying. It’s not what we are known for as fans and anyone asking someone to leave like that should be ashamed.

Love him or loathe him catchy is a fan and is entitled to his opinion as much as I am or anyone else on here.

G @ 33 … the number of individual bloggers actually posting on the blog is probably ~30 during mid week and creeps up to 100 on a match day. This highly scientific estimate doesn’t include multiples! Still, a far cry from the 52,000 who attend week in week out, and the expat army supporting around the globe. A reason why I don’t mind at all when Ed collects and shares twitter posts and such from the interwebs. And also why the atmosphere on the blog gets caught up in extremes at times.
