24-year-old Italian International Stefano Sturaro may be available in January and Newcastle have been heavily linked with the midfielder.
His agent is Carlo Volpi, and he has been quoted in Tribal Football as saying there are Premier League clubs interested in his player with Newcastle United one of the clubs.
We were interested in the central midfielder in the summer, and Rafa Benitez certainly needs to bring some class into the team – either permanently or on loan next month – if we are to survive in the Premier League.
It was in November that Carlo Volpi said that both Everton and Newcastle were Premier League clubs interested in Sturaro, but since then Everton have brought in Sam Allardyce as manager, so it’s not clear if the Toffees are still interested.
Stefano Sturaro – 24-year-old Italian International
This is what Carlo Volpi told Tribal Football:
“Juventus have a team strong enough to be highly competitive for Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League.”
“Stefano has already played both in CL and in Serie A this year and he wants to train even harder in order to be ready when his moment comes.”
“Juventus also have such midfielders as Matuidi, Marchisio and Khedira: they all are around 30 years old and incredibly talented and charismatic.”
“There are clubs from the Premier League which made clear they are interested in Stefano, it would be unfair to name them but the news is coming out. January is imminent.”
“But there are many important games to play and Stefano is highly focused on his role in the team.”
Sturaro is still young at 24, and he could be an excellent buy for us in January – maybe even a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer?
What is clear that every player Rafa brings in during January has to have class and be able to go straight into the Newcastle side.
Class and creativity are what we need next month.
We hope Rafa is interested in the Italian International and of course he will be helped with his contacts in Italy after managing both Inter-Milan and Napoli.
It’s this kind of experienced and capable player we need to help Newcastle survive this season.
Sturaro signed for Juventus from Genoa in the summer of 2014 and has played 78 times for Juventus with 3 goals and 5 assists; he has 4 caps for Italy.

How will you feel about Rafa if we’re relegated come the end of the season? He maybe a world class manager or at least the teams he coached were.
Ultimately MA and his penny pinching after our promotion is to blame for not strengthening with the right budget but Rafa has made baffling decisions, which has definitely cost us points.
I’m sure he’ll turn us around with the right backing but had p45 made the same decisions there would be a real rant on here.

About 21 comments in a row on this article have not been about Newcastle United football club in anyway…
I guess it’s good traffic for Ed regardless but honestly, if you have nothing relevant to say about the article posted or in relation to Newcastle United then please find something else to do with your life.
Let’s talk football! On the pitch football! Player performances, who’s trying but will never make it, who’s being mismanaged, who’s out of position, where would you play them, what formation would you use given our current squad, who would be in your starting 11, who has run the most Km for us this season, who has put in most tackles, who has the highest pass accuracy, do you love football? Do you love to learn how the team is doing?
Have an opinion but respect other opinions.
That’s all.
Now… Lascelles, he is our best player. Such a great young talent! Bags of potential, a brave move giving him captaincy at such a young age but he has handled it remarkably. It is hugely noticeable when he is not playing, not only does he command the back four and keep them disciplined he actually orchestrates most of our attacks. Good and comfortable on the ball, you won’t see him hoof it but you will see him stride forward, ball at feet and kick things off. Very disciplined and very willing to learn. Love him! He is the most important person at out club right now.

Comment #96The blog or any form of social media just reflects society. It includes all types good people/bad people, clever people/idiots, sane people/lunatics, ill informed people/informed people, bigot/free thinkers.
In real society, say in a pub setting, face to face, you could just tell the kranks/tosspots to go away and they would.
Doesn’t work online – they just keep coming back. I suppose that is the way it is now.

Comment #100Jib- I can see arguments for both but think announcing now would be better
Announce now and it lifts everyone up (fans especially would be ecstatic)
We would have a ‘whole’ club again and our new chapter could begin
And just because we have been taking over it wouldn’t automatically shoot prices up as I don’t think we would spend much in January either (if it did we could still get a few good loans) a couple of decent signings and everyone would be buzzing
Don’t forget it’s a World Cup at the end of the season and there’s a hell of a lot of players needing game time
Announce it after the window and we have 40+ days of uncertainty , crowd/ fans getting restless
There will be even more Idiots jumping on rafas back ,
Also – prices could still be raised as other clubs think we are on the verge of being taken over (or they don’t want to do business with Ashley and inflate the price )

Comment #103Can see where you are coming from Frank, if the fans are happy and the players pick it up, could change so much. Also think January prices are high anyway, so might not make too much difference. Just need to sign 1 to 2 strikers with maybe one acting as a number 10, full back, keeper and maybe defensive midfielder

Comment #113Season ticket renewal time in January. I think they need to announcement before the en of January. If we haven’t heard the deal is done by then, my presumption will be it isn’t going to happen.
My logic is that; if the deal is done why delay the announcement? There is nothing to lose.
If the deal is dead, it would be best to keep it quiet until the renewal deadline has passed. If they announce the deal is dead beforehand there will be a mass exodus.

Comment #114Frank I agree, couldn’t be happier if they announced a deal, but we’re all thinking from a fans point of view.
These prospective owners are presumably not geordies, desperate to save us from the Ashley nightmare.
They hopefully see us as a club that with serious investment would take off.
I don’t see them being to bothered about making announcements just for the sake of steadying the ship, unless they’ve already agreed a deal with no relegation clause, and so would take a financial hit if we go down.
Hope I’m wrong and the deal is announced asap.

Comment #115Everyone wanting Rafa sacked short minded. Dyche promoted with Burnley promptly relegated not sacked got promotion again. Rafa gets us promoted and not given funds to make us competative. If we went down our chances with Staverley and Rafa far better than some of the oddball suggestions on here. If the fatman had sold club end of season to give us a chance we would not be in this mess only one person to blame.

Comment #116Staveley and co are playing the long game, they announce a mega rich owner, all transfer prices go through the roof, they sit back, fund via Ashley (easily done) and buy on Feb 1st. That’s what I think will happen now.
That’s not to say the entire deal hasn’t been done yet, I hear it has, but the timing of the announcement is the issue.
Basically why would the new owner (singular) waste money on over-inflated prices and greedy agents before he has to?

Agreed – certainty is needed in an uncertain world. A clear announcement that we have new owners, Ashley has left the building and that new players will arrive early in January will set the club back onto it’s feet. I for one don’t need the glory boys talking of Champions League (well not yet) but I do want to see smiling faces all the way along the Scotswood Road and at the ground, pundits like Owen and Keys squirming uncomfortably in their studio seats and the wider world saying that the Club are winning matches and moving forward.
Anything less that that should carry a health warning.
