Newcastle Fans Turn To Twitter On News Of First January Signing

Newcastle have agreed a loan deal for 21-year-old left-sided player Kenedy to come in early next month.

Rafa may decide to play the Brazilian at left back to try to tighten up the defense although Paul Dummett should be getting a run out in the first team very soon.

The signing will add competition to the team and it looks like Rafa rates this player after he tried to sign him in August.

The deal fell through when Chelsea manager Antonio Conte couldn’t sign any replacement for the Brazilian U20 player.

Kenedy – 21-year-old Brazilian

Here are some tweets on our first deal in the January transfer window.

Doesn’t look like Joe holds out much hope for us.

Did someone say earlier that dummett is injury prone? He’s consistently played the vast majority of our games for the past 2 years, picked up a bad injury at start of the season. Hardly injury prone.

    GPLF,
No I don’t think six is too much. We need four to go straight in. A GK, LB AM(10) and CF, it won’t do any harm to have another DM to bolster the squad either, I’d also like a better RB as well along with another striker.

Without being a negative nancy, I would question kenedy as I did in the summer. He’s not a left back or left wing back other than a few games at Chelsea. All his time in Brazil he was an attacking midfielder. Odd occasion on the wing and sometimes even up front. I actually quite like him though, just not as a defensive player.

Any updates on the takeover situation? If we get new owners as a first signing it would be the best news to have

I’d hate to be dragged by the balls for the length of time this has been going on.

Jail @3 – Six would be great but we might have to watch the squad size although I’m not sure if Kenedy counts as under 21?

Discussions between #NUFC & PCP are ongoing and they are closer to reaching an agreement than they were a few weeks ago. Although what has become clear is that an official change of ownership would not take place until deep into the New Year.

Let’s hope that Caulkin’s report’s got legs and Ashley gets his moving and take him as far away from NUFC as is possible.

    ronaldo,
Last season was the only season where he hasn’t been injured for a sizeable chunk. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but his only two injury free seasons were at a lower level.

Someone pointed oot Kenedy looked a bit Jermaine Jenas-like, on the previous thread photo. Is it me, or has the lad aged about 20 years in the photo above? 21 or 41? Robert Kenedy Nunes Nascimento (born 8 February 1996), apparently. 😮

He’s a decent striker. Probably the biggest weakness is mobility on the pitch. He ain’t going to be like gayle, pressing and chasing. He has good record at international level and had a good record for sporting Lisbon. Not a typical Rafa signing and in my opinion, quite similar to mitrovic lol.

Suppose Kenedy could be a direct replacement for Jesus, who then becomes a full-time coach?
OAS, forgot aboot Haidara and Saivet 😆 An easy thing to do!
Henri is clearly delighted to sit in the under 23’s and take his pay – maybe he can be Jack’s replacement, when Jack gets shipped back to the SoS? That’ll stop anyone else arguing with Rafa!
    Isn’t Haidara’s contract up, soon?

I’ve always said that about Abraham, think if it’s the same report I read that he should be a 2nd/3rd choice striker, not the main man.

I saw a fair few amount of games of the Chelsea youth team inc Abraham, solander, loftus cheek etc and he never really impressed me. He will make a decent career because he is a goal scorer and as that knack you can’t teach. Gem of that youth team was musonda and he can’t get a game for Chelsea. Would love us to go and get him because he has been voicing his disappointment at not getting game time.

Colback will likely be dropped from it, but also Kenedy is born after January 1, 1996, so doesn’t count as being aged over 21 for this season

He is keen on moving unwanted players out (i.e. the likes of Colback). Fringe players could go too, but only once he knows budget, & if replacements can be brought in

We’ve been linked with a left back from Roma gets me thinking, if we are still looking at bring a left back in the possibly, kenedy may be thought of as an attacking player after all. It could be the rumours of aarons leaving earlier this season could be true?

What’s your thoughts on players like Abraham and Loftus Cheek.

For me, Loftys Cheek is just as good, if not better, then Bakayoko that Chelsea decided to spend 30/40 million on.

I don’t have a problem with clubs spending money to bring players in when they have genuine quality, I just don’t get the obsession with spending good money on very average players when there must be players equally as good in the academy.
