Newcastle Reported In Move To Sign French “Sensation”

French reports suggest that Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is keen on signing France Under-21 winger Samuel Grandsir in January.

The reports also include a story in the Sun, and it seems that both Newcastle and Bournemouth have opened talks to sign the player.

Samuel plays for Troyes and has had an outstanding season in getting his French club to 14th place in the French League and he has had some of his best games against top sides like PSG.

He is said to be valued around £4M, and that should not be a barrier to Newcastle, even though Rafa does not know precisely how much he will have to spend next month.

Samuel Grandsir – 21-year-old French wing sensation

Grandsir is a right-sided midfielder and usually plays on the right wing, and the Sun refers to him in their article as a French wing sensation.

He was born in Normandy and joined Troyes over five years ago from Evreux his hometown club, whom he joined when he was just 8 years old.

However, it’s not surprising that Troyes don’t want to lose their top young player.

But they may find it hard to turn down a fee of £4M if they get an offer from one of the two Premier League clubs interested in the player.

He could be one for the future at Newcastle, but it seems Rafa wants to bring him in while he’s available.

Grandsir has played a total of 56 times with 5 goals and 7 assists for Troyes and this season he’s played 19 times with 2 goals and 4 assists.

What do you think?

chased by Bilbao – he’s a Basque so will be interested
    but so is Rafa

I think we all pretty much expected that silly season this time round would be frenetic .

As mentioned before it seems pretty clear that Mike’s bargaining position has had to be bolstered by the promise of strengthening the team beyond relegation point. It was always on the cards that Mike would be in this position, spend now or pay dearly later. He set that up on himself in the summer so no surprise really. He stuck it all on red 13 and oh well never mind…

So he’s Brazilian and plays for Chelsea but what an anti climax from Luiz down to Kennedy!!!!
We’re only allowed 2 loans from the PL is that correct, but as many as we like from other leagues?

Well at least it seems that the usless slug of an owner has been panicked into making moves early. Let’s just hope that what we bring in is enough to make the difference and is able to move us away from the bottom three

If we agree a loan deal now, are the players able to come to NUFC straight away to start training etc etc before the window opens?

Colback – a few championship strugglers would have him right now, but the ones who would least welcome him are the most needy – the mackems.

Diame – again, maybe the best time for a championship side to add needed pace (ha ha i said pace)

Ending soon – should get rid at any cost

Haidara, Gamez, flaming Curtis Good the $6 man.

Ideally at least one of our strikers, most likely mitrovic.

Henri Saivet – cruising through his contract

I wouldn’t be heartbroken to see Shelvey, Mbemba (although we really do need him as backup)

Tsunki… forgot Curtis Good was still on our books!

Problem with clearing the dead wood is finding someone to take them. I imagine any who leave will go out on loans, hopefully with a view to a permanent deal in the summer. Can’t imagine we get more than a few quid from sales in Jan. Mitro’s our best bet of getting a decent fee for anyone.

Aye Curtis Good is still in stock, you can find bits of him in various boxes and jars around the NUFC stores. I think they use parts robbed from him to repair other fixer-uppers. Marveaux had a few bits bolted on. I think Aaron’s has a foot and a knee of his.

Remember all our surplus to requirements players are championship – ready. There are a lot of teams there not wanting to go down / fighting to go up or into playoff places. January is their ideal window for that push. No reason why we couldn’t ship a good few out.
