If Rafa brings in the players he needs next month that can potentially save us from relegation he will need to move other players out as he wants to keep the first team squad at about 26 players.
It will also help us with the wage bill if we can sell some of our unwanted players or at least get them out on loan for the rest of the season and then try to sell them this summer.
Any funds received for players who are sold permanently can be used to bring new players into the club.
Newcastle have already agreed a loan deal to bring Kenedy to Newcastle on loan from Chelsea, but unfortunately, it’s with the same proviso as last summer – Antonio Conte needs to bring in some players before Kenedy can leave.
Rolando Aarons – Newcastle career over
That will delay when he can join the club – we were hoping it would be early in January.
Newcastle are also reported to be close to agreeing a loan deal to bring Leicester City’s striker Islam Slimani to the club – that would be an excellent deal for us.
The Chronicle is reporting today that Newcastle are willing to listen to offers for the following five players – Henri Saivet, Mo Diame, Massadio Haidara, Jack Colback and Rolando Aarons.
The only surprise to us is that it seems the end of the road for Rolando Aarons.
The lad hasn’t had much luck with injuries, and it would not surprise us if a decent club came in for him next month.
Mo Diame has struggled this season when he’s played, and there are at least two clubs in Turkey interested in him for around a £2.5M fee.
A bevy of Championship clubs are (very) interested in Jack Colback, and we could get £5M for the local lad.
Massadio Haidara’s contract runs out next June so he will leave the club then if we cannot get a club in for him next month.
The Frenchman joined us back in January 2013 but has not been a success and had a lot of injuries on Tyneside.
Other players like Aleksandar Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba could be made available next month but only if we bring players in for their positions.
Rafa’s expected to try to bring in two strikers and if that happens Mitro will be able to leave – permanently or on loan – before the end of January.
