Rafa – We’ve Been Training Well And So Close To Changing Things

Rafa Benitez has been trying his best to end what is probably the worst run he has had during his long and successful career in management.

It came as a shock after 9 games played when we were 6th top with 14 points from the 9 games played.

Now we are 18th with 15 points after 18 games played after getting just one point from the last 9 games.

The good news is that Rafa seems confident things will turn around soon – and maybe today at West Ham?

The team has been training well, and Rafa says it’s the small things that have been letting the side down.

We have also had some narrow defeats in this 9 game streak of terrible results and very little luck on our side.

Rafa Benitez – side is training well

The next four games have us playing West Ham, Manchester City, Brighton, and Stoke and we have a chance of winning three of those four games if we play at or near our best.

Date Fixture KO time
Sat 23 Dec West Ham vs Newcastle 15:00
Wed 27 Dec Newcastle vs Man City 19:45
Sat 30 Dec Newcastle vs Brighton 15:00
Mon 1 Jan Stoke vs Newcastle 15:00

This is what Rafa has said as reported in the Shields Gazette:

“Obviously, we have the problem of the bad run.”

“Can you get more confidence with a bad run?”

“So how can we keep confidence high? It’s just training well, making sure the training sessions keep the spirit.”

“We’ve been training very well – and I’ve been saying that for a while.”

“We’re losing games because of little details – little mistakes – and we’re paying for that.”

“We’re so close to changing things that we have to keep going and have confidence that we’ll do it.”

If we can get a win this afternoon – it would be the first since October 21st – and it will raise the spirits of Newcastle fans everywhere.

It will get us all in the Christmas spirit!

Over doing it there on the previous few posts. I’ve never said the squad is shite, there’s a big difference to saying it’s not good enough to the disrespectful saying it’s shite. And it is a majority of people who never go to the games that are calling for the managers head. The proof of that is the amount of goons that show up on here on match days.

frank – stick to your day job (if you have one), just remember jealousy is a nasty trait, and that old adage that “Empty vessels make the most noise”.

I hope Gayle starts, but didn’t Rafa say him and Perez can’t play together ?? ,so it’s either Perez and joselu 🙁 ,or Gayle and diame 🙁 Why not Merino in the 10 spot

I think Rafa quite fancies Murphy and although he’s not the finished article, there’s enough there to suggest we’ve got ourselves a player. With him and Atsu in the side on away days could this be the time to try Ritchie as a number 10? Perez is clearly not the answer as he hasn’t progressed in 4 years so might be worth a try?
