Report – Rafa Interested In Bringing Roma Left Back Emerson Palmieri To Tyneside

Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that Rafa Benitez is interested in 23-year-old Roma lest back Emerson Palmieri.

The Brazilian has been out with a severe cruciate ligament injury, and he has played only twice this season for his club.

But last season he was a regular in the team.

He joined Roma in the summer of 2015 from hometown club Santos on loan for one season and finally made his move permanent 18 months later

He played for the Brazil U20 side, but he has Italian ancestry on his mother’s side and became an Italian citizen in March of this year and has elected to play for Italy but has not been capped yet at senior level.

Emerson represented Brazil at U17 level during the 2011 South American U17 Championships and during 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

He started in each of those tournaments and looked an excellent player in both tournaments.

He has played 47 times for Roma with 2 goals on an assist, and it seems Rafa likes his speed and he’s also a talented technical player.

Liverpool are also interested in the player, and earlier this monthPalmieri said this (reported in the Sun) about clubs interested in him:

“I have heard that clubs such as Inter Milan and Liverpool are seeking to sign me.”

“But I am under contract with Roma. I am flattered by stories such as these.”

“However, I want to stay here in Rome. I am happy here.”

“Roma have a great squad, with everyone good enough to start matches.”

“There are so many close-fought games, and it is vital for us to have a well-stocked squad.”

It doesn’t exactly sound like he’s going to be leaving Rome anytime soon.

And Liverpool just signed Hull City’s Scottish International left-back Andrew Robertson in the summer – so why are they after another left-back so soon?

What do you think?

Making my first trip ever to Newcastle in January to watch the NUFC/Burnley fixture.
Beyond excited. Really want to watch them beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on the Sunday but can’t seem to find any tickets. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is finding tickets in the away a futile effort? HWTL
