Newcastle have lost their last five home games for the first time in a long while.
And we play Brighton tomorrow afternoon who have lost their last four away games without even scoring a goal.
This is the final game of the year for Newcastle, and it’s been an eventful year.
The first half was positive – very positive and the second half has been negative – maybe even very negative.
Michael Owen – predicts Newcastle win – we certainly need the 3 points
For the game tomorrow Rafa has nearly all of our top players available including all central midfielders – Jonjo Shelvey, Mo Diame, Isaac Hayden, Mikel Merino and Henri Saivet.
Maybe we will see Henri Saivet get another start after he played so well last Saturday in the 3-2 win at West Ham.
His attitude is highly commendable after the Senegal International hasn’t been given many chances by Rafa Benitez.
Former Newcastle striker Michael Owen is right when he says something has to give in tomorrow’s game.
This is what Michael has written for BetVictor:
“Newcastle have lost five successive home league games whilst Brighton have lost their last four away games without scoring a goal.”
“Something has to give at St James Park.”
“Seagulls boss Chris Hughton has won just one of his seven games against his former club and I expect the hosts to edge what is likely to be a tight, tense affair.”
“Prediction is Newcastle to win at 23/20.”
There’s just no way we can score 23 goals tomorrow.
🙂

Comment #3There’s always chew over Xmas in boozers, sounds like the Denton is a pub to avoid this Yuletide. Some right car park warriors obviously drink in there and on here. Seriously some folk need to reassess their behaviour and focus on things that matter in life.
Need this takeover to go through mind sharpish or else some bodies gunna get clipped ?

Comment #6Our next three league games will confirm which way our season will go. Rafa should have no problem in motivating the players for these games, i can actually see us picking up 9 points from the next three. Lads should attack from the start tomorrow, an early goal, noise from the crowd and Brighton will cave.

Comment #7Similar problems Newcastle and Brighton, both are championship squads playing in the premier league.
Tough one to call who’ll win tomorrow, depends on Rafa’s team selection and tactics.
Our first 30 minutes against City was a case of Rafa showing them far too much respect, which didn’t work.
A average team will only do well in the premier league when you put 110% effort in and play with confidence and belief, something we did in the second half.

Folks here is a little more depth to what we are looking at in Man City. Have a read, then a quick walk down the Ashley Memory Lane and see if we can compare at all, and what it would take to be able to compare.
It goes way beyond what we are seeing on the pitch, it has been going on for a while. I’ve been hearing they are pressing Pep to sign a 10 year deal involving much more than just managing football related stuff.
I don’t know who our prospective new owners are but in the best case scenario I bloody hope they have much more than buckets of money to throw. If we are to compete against the top clubs, they need to have a plan and expertise on top of pure Abramovich style ambition!

Brilliant article Kevin, and it ties in with Saudi king to be MbS’s vision 2030, which, and I quote:-
Living healthy, being healthy
A healthy and balanced lifestyle is an essential mainstay of a high quality of life. Yet opportunities for the regular practice of sports have often been limited. This will change. We intend to encourage widespread and regular participation in sports and athletic activities, working in partnership with the private sector to establish additional dedicated facilities and programs. This will enable citizens and residents to engage in a wide variety of sports and leisure pursuits. We aspire to excel in sport and be among the leaders in selected sports regionally and globally.
http://vision2030.gov.sa/en/node/10
Hopefully MbS’s thinking (and he makes the Mansours look like paupers), is similar to Globalisation aspirations of Citeh’s.
We can only hope, imaging having the iconic black and white stripes as the top teams on each continent, a constant supply line of new talent, already trained in “The Toon way”, hell we can already start with buying up the clubs around the world already called Newcastle.
IF this is his plan – and I firmly believe it is – then the Toon fans/supporters wondering why the takeover will take another few weeks thinking that is a negative is laughable.
Open your eyes to the big picture guys, this is the future.
Just in case you missed it as the bus moved on.

The only thing I currently plan to give up is responding to you. As I said there’s not much to chose between you and Catchy.
At least I tried.
Carl/carl.
You’ve been outed more times than you’ve changed your underpants, I suppose we just have to put up with Jack Root, Ian Toon, John Irving, sack llambias and now Chas and Dave. What ever makes you happy, when it becomes out of order is when your using different monikers to turn more posters against your targets.

Comment #15We won’t be cash rich , unlimited money
If it was ….the deal to buy the club would of took 5 minutes
300 Million , see you later
If they haggle over 50 Million to buy the club , then will they haggle over 5 Million to buy a 50 million pound player ? I doubt it.
Man City don’t
If the takeover happens , it will be a consortium that will give us a fighting chance of top 8 (which is fine by me)
I just want us to compete , and give teams a game
Maybe win a cup , have the full fan base behind the club (as well as the owners)
I think we will be Middle East backed but st sensible levels (eg compete for 20 million pound players )

Comment #19Plus they wouldn’t need relegation clauses
They would of spent 70 Million+ (plus a few sales) in this window to ensure we stay up and also got us some great loan deals for top players / big wages

He set a price , then doubled it the next day and it insulted them
They also got a good deal at Man City

Comment #22Hibbit – thanks for the offer of a pint but will give it a miss. Just ignore him, clearly just after a rise.
As much as Rafa is the only decent thing to happen to the club since Ben Arfa and Demba Ba arrived he is stubborn and clearly over defensive at times which doesn’t go down well with all fans, however Rafa cannot legislate for Aaron’s Murphy Joselu plus Diame playing like Sunday league players against City. Was embarrassing but down to ability of players rather than the gaffer.

From my limited experience, the Arab doesn’t like having the pi$$ taken out of the. They’re a proud people and if we’re looking at high profile guys like Mansour, they’ll not be ripped.off by Ashley or anyone else. It’s called savng face ( as Dubai explained a few days ago) and if Ashley’s trying to screw or con our potential buyer, they’ll go out of their way to beat the greedy git at his own game.
On transfers, this reporting that Rafa doesn’t know what transfer budget he’s got for January, will not help any recruitment to a club that’ll appear to be badly run, devoid of any ambition and a cert for relegation. Sadly, I think it’s true that Rafa’s in the dark and again, Ashley’s diving with relegation – for the third time in eleven years!!
On the subject of Brighton, I think that fans expect more than sitting back at SJP and suspect that Rafa’d set up to go at them as we did at West Ham. They [Brighton] don’t like it up ’em you know, they don’t like it up ’em! Maybe those going to the match should take a Marks and Spencer bag – to bring the goals home… hopefully!!
