Next Two Games Are Crucial For Newcastle

We made a good effort to get something out of the Manchester City game on Wednesday night but we had no joy following our impressive 3-2 win at West Ham last Saturday afternoon.

But the next two games against Brighton at home tomorrow and at Stoke on Monday afternoon are going to be crucial.

We must keep picking up points in these games – and preferably wins.

Rafa Benitez – on the touchline on Wednesday night

Newcastle have now gone five successive defeats in a row at St. James’ Park which we haven’t done in decades, so it would be a good time to stop the rot with a (good) win tomorrow.

And then another win on New Year’s Day.

Howay the Lads!!

How Will Newcastle Fare Against Brighton?

Having seen the way Man City have previously demolished virtually all who faced them, Rafa used his vast experience to construct a game plan to try and blunt their attacking prowess and if possible catch them on a quick break.

In keeping the score down to one nil feels like a victory but without the three points. The lads will be greatly heartened by how they stuck to their managers game plan and still managed to be a threat late in the game. The tactics against Brighton will be completely different, and rightly so.

People should ignore what failed manager Gary ‘smart arse’ Neville has said and also Jamie Carragher who has never managed a football team of any consequence in his life and not surprisingly as only players from the back streets of Liverpool could understand his thick and largely unintelligible Scouse accent. At least our Alan can be understood by almost everyone in the country even if some of his comments leave many of them puzzled.

Catchy it should have been dead and buried like when they smashed Liverpool or destroyed spurs. I guess it’s ok though as they had a go it wouldn’t have mattered if our goal difference would have took a beating I guess. Sounds good NOT!!

Nobody is disputing the 10m signing of the French kid I agree we need better to pull us out the relegation battle.

Can’t believe idiots like Catchy are criticizing Rafa for playing defensively. City have beaten every team in the league bar one this season – why should Newcastle be the exception?
Newcastle did attack in the latter part of the game anyway!
Catch – People don’t understand why the fans support Rafa. The answer is simple the majority of Newcastle fans are very knowledgeable about football. They know a good thing when they see it.
Stop your mischief and attention seeking Catchy get behind the team and the best manager we’ve had since Robson.

that’s not my point, my point is the words genius tactics.

luck had a bigger part to play than tactics and no one should ever base any thing on luck.

    Catchy
To further understand your reasoning about signings / fees from earlier thread..

Sigurdsson went to Everton for £45million. We signed Merino for a total cost of about £8million. I would say we have the better deal personally.
So you suggested ‘Rafa clappers’ were happy about a tenuous link from a newspaper saying we might be interested in signing a player for 10 million. Then mocked the idea of playing him against a defender who a club payed 75 million for. Thin reasoning.
We haven’t bought him / he’s probably not coming and nobody said they were happy with him.
    So what was your point?

It was damage limitation and it worked. Why wreck your GD what a no hopers message to the players just before sats game. Cant Catchy understand nowt.
Bournemouth conceded 4 against them, Spurs 4, Swansea 4, Arsenal 3, West Brom 3, Burnley 3, Stoke 7, Palace 5, Liverpool 5, you get the point.

Clearly the strategy was to try and contain them, and counter if possible; and a 0-1 result before a run of far more important matches will be far better for the NUFC squad’s morale than a a 4,5,6 or 7 goal drubbing.

    sing in the corners.

wow someone gets it. Value pretty much nothing if the manager can not get the best out of the player.

but rafa clappers keep saying we have a championship squad every time we get beat.
but when we win, rafa is a genius. you cannot have it both ways.

when Everton beat us, most rafa clappers pointed out they had 75 million in 2 players, but they never pointed out that we battered them and they were lucky really.

and yet i’m the deluded one. but IMO rafa clappers are hypocrites who want to use both sides of the argument when it suits them.
they used the losing streak to get rid of one manager then don’t use that logic with another.
very confusing to the logical thinking man

When Luton come up here they will have a right go and so they should. Cup game..a one off. They are bang in the form of their lives, confidence at an all time high, just had a whopping away win in their league.
We were playing a massive juggernaut of a club on an amazing run, who were sweeping Champions league teams aside. We need every point we can get and it was one game out of 38. You could describe it as Rafa working out the percentages, probabilities, and targeting a game on Saturday.

BBC journalism has reached new heights in trying to distort facts:

“Allardyce is unbeaten in his seven games in charge, with three wins and three draws in the Premier League moving them up to ninth place”

So what was the outcome in the seventh game ?
Are the FA aware of this points anomaly ?

    (Am I missing something here ? )

    Chas,
The other day you mentioned a poster called murvar who doesn’t post anymore. Not a name I don’t think many recall, it just seemed odd that Ian Toon mentioned a poster called murvar last year who had been driven from the blog. As a long time reader new poster you’ll also know that a poster called carl uses different user names to have a go at people, like you did to me the other day but continually slips up by using the same phrases, spelling makes and has a habit of hoop licking his same favourite bloggers.
