This Is Bad News For Newcastle

Some bad news today as we face Brighton this afternoon at St. James’ Park in what is a vital game, and
it’s games like these we must win if we are to survive in the Premier League this season.

The news is that Rob Elliot is out injured and will not take part today.

Rob has a thigh problem after he was kicked in Wednesday night’s home game against Manchester City.

Karl Darlow will come in with young Freddie Woodman on the bench.

Rob Elliot – out of today’s game

This is what Rafa has said about the injury:

“Elliot is not available,” “He had a kick in his thigh and he felt it a little bit. He’s rested.”

It could be that Rob can return on Monday at Stoke City since it doesn’t seem too bad – but you never know.

We have to have Karl Darlow come in today and have a good game, and he will need to forget the mistake he made against Everton when he last played and we lost that game 1-0.

Karl will get a lot of help and support from the fans today.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (back), Florian Lejeune (foot) and Jesus Gamez (ankle) are also unavailable for this game through injury.

We have to win this game today.

My reasoning being HBA have big units
at the back and we need it on the deck
where Perez probably has the edge over Joselu

I thought we had all agreed, including Rafa, that the Perez Gayle combo doesn’t work?

JIB, 2 out from mine, with Woody in goal, Perez on bench and Mbemba in the back 3. Just see Rafa going for a back 3 today. Feeling in my bones – due to the weather 😉 Never asked Rob, on the beach, like, but did show him how to distribute the ball for his dog 🙄
Thanked me, saying it was about time he got some world-class coaching, from a drunken delinquent!

BHA have Gross and Propper in midfield – what are their strengths/weaknesses ❓
We know about Glenn Daley-Murray and Knockaert.
Duffy and Dunk are big units.

Pretty much like for like Jib, just Darlow and Dummett difference. They have pace down each wing and despite what some say, Dummett is pretty rapid. I’d go for Woody because Darlow has errors in him and we can’t afford any today.
That said, I have little doubt he’ll go with Darlow and probably Diame too.
Whatever side he picks we need the two forward thinking midfielders in today. Attack today as, much as we defended against City.
Anyway, got to pop out to Asda. 🙁 I get all the best jobs.

i have to laugh when i read someone spouting knowledge and justifying a Rafa sale.

il point it out for you, as he is a proper Rafa Clapper.

he justified the sale of Krul by saying his injuries had caught up with him. If this Clapper really believes this then why the hell did we keep Elliott? i’ve never seen a keeper pick up as many little injuries as him. If that was the reason for Krul going, then i wood have rather kept him and got rid of Elliot, as he is very injury prone.
krul wood have been a great help for woody as he is a more confident keeper and person all round.

both Darlow and Elliot seem nervous nellys on the pitch and in front of the camera.

i always thought keepers had to be a little crazy, for me i would say an Alfa male type , very sure of themselves, and both our keepers are most definitely not this type of person.

    Dummett stifled Knockeart last season
not sure if he’s up to 2 games in 4 days yet.

Start him at least and if we get 2 or 3 up reasonably early in the 2nd half, bring on Manquillo.

Lindisfarne, the alternative of Diame and Joselu hasn’t worked either. Let’s face it, none of the four are PL quality. At least Perez has showed some form in the PL, albeit a while ago! 🙂
In an ideal world none would be anywhere near our first eleven and all are pretty much as bad as each other. Like I say, I’m not expecting that choice, just threw it in as my option whilst fully accepting what I want matters not one jot.
What I would like to see is Ritchie or Merino playing behind Joselu but that ain’t happening either.
Went for pace in most quarters purely because whilst Brighton’s two CB’s are great in the air, they ain’t too quick and slow to turn.
Got to go before I get earache. 🙂

also, read on the mag yesterday that if we go down, Ashley is scewed as he doesn’t have a high value sellable Asset in the squad?

i think with VVD going for 75 million, then because of the very high opinion people have of Lascelles on here, and in some quarters of the press too, he has to be a 50mil plus player now. many have called for him to have an England call up.

    just saying

Manquillo v Bruno should be good
Javier is from Madrid and Bruno
    is a Catalan.

Woodman will be used against Luton definitely, but not today.
I would prefer Dummett at LB but depends on how quick he can recover.
Merino will definitely start, who will partner him is the big question.
Murphy is perhaps owed another start, but I think the experience of Ritchie & Atsu will start.
Gayle up front and I suspect Joselu, as they have worked well together.
My only problem is that the starting 11 looks too predictable and Rafa is likely to throw a wobbly one in.

So Elliot was kicked and injured by those dastardly Man City players trying to disrupt Rafa’s potentially match winning tactics. What scoundrels. MOTD failed to highlight this travesty and the FA need to take retrospective action by telling Man City not to be so very very naughty and stop spending so much money and save some for a rainy day of which there are plenty in their grimy city. Shocking.
