The result and performance yesterday were not what Newcastle fans were expecting or hoping for.
It was a lackluster performance and sometimes totally inept play from our lads yesterday that will have Newcastle fans worrying about our survival this season.
And it’s getting to be the only thing that really matters in games is the result and points on the board – and we need wins to survive.
And it will not come as any positive news that manager Benitez thinks it’s going to be like this through the end of the season.
Oh my – so that will be Newcastle fighting relegation for four of the last five seasons – that’s just terrible!
Rafa Benitez – on the touchline yesterday
After the disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Brighton yesterday when some boos were heard around St. James’ Park at the end of the game, this is what Rafa had to say when asked if things were now worse than they were:
“No. It’s clear that we will have a similar situation until the end of the season, so the main thing is the message that I gave before: we have to stick together.”
“Stay clam and keep working hard, that’s it. “It’s not a secret.”
“That’s the only way for us.” “It’s always difficult.”
“It depends what you do in the summer but it’s always difficult.”
Rafa is coming in for some criticism these days too, and that’s natural after such a terrible run.
But we must stay right behind the manager and the players if we are to have any chance of staying a Premier League club at the end of May.
Our fans are a huge advantage for the club and always have been.
Finally, I cannot say I’ve been at my most positive this last day or two.
But life goes on!
