Can Newcastle Get Off To A Great Start To 2018 And Beat Stoke?

We are at Stoke this afternoon in another crucial game, and the Potters were hammered 5-0 at Chelsea on Saturday but rested a number of their top players in preparation for the visit of Newcastle.

Stoke are one place above us in the league with an extra point so a win this afternoon would see us leapfrog them.

But it will be another tough game, but if we are to survive this season, we must somehow get some wins.

Rafa Benitez meets Mark Hughes

To win a game we also have to score a goal – which has proved difficult this season.

In 21 league games, we have failed to score 9 times and of those 9 times and we have lost 7 of the games 1-0.

We have only five wins but have done the double over West Ham, and we have the chance to do the double over Stoke, having beaten then 2-1 at home on 16th September.

Here are the current league positions near the bottom of the table.

Happy New Year Ed,stay strong, also happy new year to all toon fans, may this be the year of the Magpie

Online Guy you swear more on here than any one.You repeat what people have said,a duck is a duck, wether it’s saying quack or QUACK OFF. Then “see if you can post in an hour” does that give you a hard on,being so powerful. You say think about Ed which is fair enough, then you run to him and ask for people banned,so are you thinking of him by doing that.If there was a n NO swearing policy that would work better surely,as for yellow red cards even Referees get them wrong 😉

Cenk Tosan off to Everton but not yet signed at £25m and with wages of £145,000 a week we’re going to have to go some to compete. Looks like if Rafa and Charnley can pull some loan deals to secure Premiership status then if Ashley has sold our time will come – in Summer 2018.

Meanwhile Everton’s owners are looking to spend £300million upwards on a new stadium in the docks area allowing a land grab of Goodison Park.

Can’t see us winning this because I can’t see us scoring with our attack. Stoke to win 1-0.

    Toontaff’s selection and I agree

    Yedlin Lascalles Clark Dummett
    Diame Shelvey
    Murphy Perez Richie

Cold wet Stoke is a miserable place and we need the more battle hardened players such as Clark to compete. Sort of think that Lascalles prefers Clark next to him. Diame needs to be the bully boy to their defence. Merino I suspect may not be 100% fit or needs some recovery time after the Brighton game so he’s probably a 65minute sub. Gayle looked featherlight against Brighton so likewise on the bench. Saviet should get a chance off the bench.

The 2018 nightmare starts, the takeover will not happen, Rafa sells Shelvey,Mitro, Mbemba for £30million and 2 loan players come in from Whitley Bay as the wages aren’t too high. Ashley makes another profit in the transfer window.
Look on the bright side we can sing Rafa’s name.

Happy New Year, that’s shocking, who does he think he is to just decide if a poster should be banned. We had a deliberate troll posting as billy, bob, eric and ted a few years ago that was deliberately trying to ruin the blog and Ed needed to know about it. But reporting people for a bit of bad language or opinion is rank out of order.

With the way of the football world these days it’s not difficult to think that the controlling money men in their secret hideaway are setting up their Elite European League with the cooperation of Sky and other “global partners”

That means a F1 style franchise of brands that are only invited to join if they meet certain criteria.

Super stadia ( Spurs are building, Chelsea set to redevelop , Liverpool have rebuilt, Arsenal, City , Manure, etc already there)

Fan base of 50,000 plus Chinese tourists to sell merchandise to

    Uber rich owners

Probably a maximum of eight English “brands” invited so top six plus Everton and Newcastle if they meet the criteria.

We end up with the football equivalent of Bernie Eccleston dictating our stadium needs and a City Council enviously eyeing up SJP to build some monstrously badly designed tower blocks designed by wannabe architects for their Science Park and student world flats project.

    Something fishy in the air.
