Newcastle After The New John Stones – Celtic Also Interested In 22-Year-Old

Newcastle have been watching Dundee center-back Jack Hendry this season, and we reported last month that Newcastle could go after the 22-year-old in January.

He seems to be available for just £1.5M as reported in the Scottish Sun and Dundee are struggling financially and certainly need the money.

But the news today is that Celtic are the favorites to sign the defender who was born in Glasgow.

Jack Hendry – 22-year-old Dundee center-back

And Hendry has been compared to Manchester City center-back John Stones because of his similar playing style to the English International.

It would be a case of Rafa picking up a good deal for a talented youngster, and he would be one for the future at Newcastle.

The advantage Newcastle could have over Celtic is we can offer a higher fee to Dundee and better terms to the youngster if he would make the switch to the Premier League.

Both Southampton and Crystal Palace are also said to be monitoring the player, but he may be keen to sign on for his hometown team – Glasgow Celtic.

Hendry has been looking very good this season since signing for Dundee last summer on a two year deal from Wigan.

Hendry has played 27 times for Dundee this season with 3 goals, and he could be a reasonable buy in January – given Newcastle will probably have very little to spend.

If Rafa is serious about the player, it also means he thinks he’s good enough to make the big step up to the Premier League.

Anyone who thinks Rafa doesn’t know the size of his transfer kitty is seriously deluded.

Hughes is like some of the bloggers on here
He just doesn’t “get” how good Rafa is.
“OK we’ll field a weakened side vs Chelsea then batter
NUFC with our full squad at home ”

Can any of our Welsh contingent explain why Swans have no money and may have to sell before they buy?

    ASHLEY
Being a gambler he will NOT sell before the season ends
He will take a chance of getting all his money and more by

    i) Keeping RAFA untill end of season
ii) Not buying any new players until we sell
iii) Chancing we will stay up

So he will be able to cash out selling for £300 million plus the TV money
    ££££££££££’s all round.

    FA CUP third – round
will the TOON put out a eleven that are in the shop window this transfer window
    Newcastle United TRANSFER ELEVEN…
    Darlow
    Haidara, Mbemba, Sterry, Gamez
    Colback, Saviet, Diame, Aarons
    Mitrovic, Gayle

    RAFA and problems at home
The course of this season is taking a similar line to last year where teams came and played deep trying to let us come onto them ie QPR, Bristol City then catching us on the break. had to watch some nervous poor performances at home

Does he go with two teams – a home team and and away team – with the home team being made up of the more talented comfortable on the ball playing players.
ie playing Lejuene, Manquilla, Merino, Shelvey, Mbemba if still here and trying to play more on the deck trying to split the opposition defence as to hoofball.

Away we are a different proposition as we are a good counter-attacking team who can break at pace.

Like to see a stats of chances/shots away from home and at home

Could offer to buy Jack and loan back, which may be a better offer than others.

Rafas post match interview on NufcTv finishes with him dismissing the FA cup game as an inconvenience. His selection will be based on keeping player free from injury for the more important PL.

    Lindi,
Unfortunately yet another season where the cup will be overlooked. Maybe with enough bodies in we can give it a go. I hope he puts out a team that he genuinely believes can beat Luton.

There is also a good interview with goal scorer Perez, the four Spanish player saw in the new year with a tradition of eating 12 grapes. I would think they now have hangovers like the rest of us.

Good luck to fans returning to work today, you have my sympathies.
